Right now on the test server a group of guys are actually holding a periodic tournament called the SCL (syndicate competitive league I think). They are just a group of players that decided hey arenas are fun, so that is what they did. Not only that but CCP actually helped them do it and actually sponsored them, because they aren't whiny little kids that want everything handed to them, you can go create a panda character in another game if that is your cup of tea.
So if you want arena fights you can make a team and participate in that league, or you know create a league of your own, the tools are all there, the only limit is your imagination (and sometimes CCP's terrible mechanics , but only sometimes)

What are you talking about?
EVE is a sandbox : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandbox_game
That means that if you want arenas, go and create/organise one.. that's all, if you don't like to do that then unfortunately it is not going to happen.
I honestly think you might be missing the point a little on what a sandbox game is meant to be, and I am not being horrible at all, just re-think for a second here.

Again a sandbox will allow you to do these options you are talking about, but they will not be implemented the way you'd like them to be, it is against EVE and what a sandbox is meant to be.

Here is also a piece of text off the CCP website, maybe that will help you understand why it won't happen (although that doesn't mean you can not do it, that is the beauty of a sandbox)
"The setting is Science Fiction, whereas most current offerings are Fantasy based. EVE does not employ sharding* or instancing** to split content and resources between players. This means that all players can interact with each other if they choose to do so. It also means that if you are famous in EVE, you are known by the EVE community, not by the population of one game server."
So an off limit arena would not happen, but again as mentioned this does not stop you from creating a league or arena type play somewhere in the game.
As many have said before, the tools are there for you to do so.

You just can not listen can you, a sandbox is not a game where everything like that is handed you, that is why WoW would be a lot better for you than EVE.
You are the exact meaning of those "want it now" children of todays age who should never play EVE.

I am not trying to be mean or put you down, I am literally just giving you alternative suggestions which you might enjoy more as I don't think null sec or high sec is what your play style gives.
Although if you really want the arenas, the tools for arenas are here, you can create this content like the developers say and want you to do (although with this reputation it might be a little hard to start with). There is a system which the big Red Versus Blue Corporation use for frigates, and you can do a lot of this kind of thing in Faction Warfare. Next to that nothing is stopping you from actually setting this up.
I understand that this is not a button that puts you in a arena, but that specific element, just that is what goes so against the sandbox and I my apologies for using the sandbox, but it is true as it breaks immersion (or would need a good thought out alternative maybe like the simulator combined with WiS content) and would affect the gameplay if there are no consequences or risk in this element.
A lot of big games do have this arena system, and I would agree that this is the majority of the players who would want such a thing, but it is a seriously dangerous step if CCP would choose to go this way as the majority of their community who has been here for a long time would never support this. It would change the players, and the game. There are already a lot of ways to get quick fights going and seriously you should try them as opposed to high sec and null sec, I would also agree with you that there are a lot of boring players in those systems. But seriously try out low sec and FW there, there are a lot more solo players and little gangs going. Or join RVB for many instant fights in their constant war.
Next to that Wormholes are awesome.

Harry, realise that maybe this is one of the unique games that don't(and probably shouldn't) offer arenas, for reasons many have already explained to you. You can't just keep going "lalalala i am not going to listen because modern games have this so gamers want it", childish communication. You can not hold a discussion in the slightest, any of your points or arguments are simply weak and not thought out.
It's funny you tell us to look outside the box, yet you want everything the linear standard MMO provides.
I give up, your just a little bit stupid, and that's okay. I sincerely hope you are a troll, for you because if you have been serious with your posting then you are a lost cause.
