Title says it all. I'm trying to find some input on the effectiveness of sentry drones. Any input would be appreciated.

if u can use t2 heavy drones then go with t2 heavy drones
t1 vs t1 they are similar and have their ups and downs

Sentry drones have really bad tracking and even the close range sentry drones have trouble hitting.
They have Battleship turret sized resolution making them only good at range.
Use Warden I / Bouncer I, drop them at 70-80km from something and have fun.
Mobility wise, heavy drones are superior (of course Duh), damage wise... Sentry drones are superior to heavy if you have heavy drone 4, and sentry drone at 4... But otherwise, it's all out for heavy for regular stuff and shooting sentry off at 70km and going for the things up close while they pick off everything from the distance..
Until there are sentry drones II, they won't be better than Heavy drone II

For PVE (missions), in my Dominix I generally now carry 5 heavies + 5 sentry + 10 mediums and 5 lights.
Only issue with sentries are the tracking, so for faster targets I use the heavy/medium/light drones (depending on the target)
For stationary / slow targets I deploy the sentries (also depending whether my ship is moving about or sitting still) and let them rip things to shreds.

Personally, I love sentry drones, but you will never get anywhere with just them. I take at least 5 heavies along with my 5 sentrys in my domi. BS 1v1 in range of sentrys however is easy peasy, and sentrys easily do twice as much damage as heavies.

For people not in dominix-how did you get your drones to engage at 70-80km? Did you just put a couple of the drone extender modules on, combined with maxxed scout drone skill? Or am I missing something? I used bouncers, but found them not particularly effective, I knew it was the range at the time, but I could not get them to engage beyond 45k, so I tried a drone extender mod, and it still wouldn't let me. :(

I'm a Domi-addict and ireally dislike the sentry drones. The only use i consider acetable with them is when i am running missions : they can engage easily some scatered ennemies. But PVP-wise, i think that they are near useless, or at least they do not fit at all to the "Lili style"

With half the ROF.
Sentries do 0.5 dps (ie virtually nothing) more than heavies, but will miss a lot more often.

for pve i would think they are better for those bs that orbit u @40+ ?
