So at the moment gamers around the world are throwing fistfuls of cash at star citizen so they can buy a space ship and view it in a currently single player environment (sound familiar).
Personally I've always thought that the main failure of the NeX store was that CCP didn't seem to consider what players might actually want to buy, as opposed to what CCP wanted to sell. Which is why we ended up with clothing rather than cool spaceship related stuff.
So what would you consider buying?

Stuff I'd like to see/buy:
- More and fancier tattoo's. ( sleeves, chest, legs? ) - Ship Skins to make my ships look like from different factions. Minmatar scheme on amarr ships, or angel skins for regular ships etc. - Other custom ship skins. ( pink stealth bombers! ) - Custom Ship visual effects ( RAINBOW AFTERBURNER looks ) - More clothing options, belly button piercings, hats, jackets, coats, non-tight skirts, more T-shirts with logo's etc. on them. - Furniture, for in my CQ, so I can add more liveliness to my little pad. - More WiS related stuff, like furniture etc. for a corporate office, where you could meet/hangout with your corpies in a station and make the room look like you want it to look. Wall hangings, tapestries, tables, chairs, customised videos for on the big screen. - More hair options, a few more outlandish ones, as well as ponytails.

This post shows that some people just have not been paying attention. What they added to the store in Inferno, were about 100-500 Aurum which is about 1-3 dollars, and said that this would be the general price range of future stuff, with some special items possibly a bit more, possibly meaning tattoos. BUT they decided to keep the legacy store item prices intact as to not **** off the people who bought the monocle for 80 dollars or the other clothes at their original price.
I would say that about a couple of dollars is a fair price for a virtual clothing piece - comparable to Star Trek Online where a clothing pack is about 5 dollars 50 cents (includes a clothing item and some accessories like the combadge) - but STO is considerably less graphically intensive and therefore creating them is easier in STO than in EVE. See this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/eveonline/2706680341/ I would GLADLY pay 600-900 aurum (4-6 dollars) for something like that, if only we had something like that available. |

2) A wider range of tattoos that can be placed on other parts of your body.

Personallly I would say make the deceased ships availible through nex. So for example the moracha that just got killed (Ishlur needs nurf, to stronk) would suddenly appear there for some sum equal to what the winner paid per ship.
This way they are available to all, in a fair manner that does not devalue the ship, and allows people to obtain them while preserving the victory of the alliance.
And yes its because I want to kill one. I want it on my KB!!!
Oh and go back and add the fun clothes. I think that is part of what EVE misses is the outlandish future garb. Right now it just feels like Earth plus space not millennium of independent thought and evolution. |

Terribly good idea you mean? Blizzard does it, has a subscription model and sells vanity items with exorbitant prices (10-25 dollars). Celestial Steed, the first cash shop item for WoW reportedly made Blizzard about 2 million dollars in four hours, estimated based on the delivery queue available at the time that had something like over 80 000 deliveries waiting at peak hours.
CCP's main mistake with NeX was to price itself in the style of WoW, because CCP just doesn't have the playerbase WoW does. Generally, the cheaper something is the more people buy it - I'm sure it would've gone down at least somewhat better if the virtual clothes hadn't cost more than actual clothes. But even so, as has been said, the priciest item, the monocle was one of the most sold items in the store.
There is a market for avatar and other vanity stuff, there is no way around this fact, even if you hate them. |

Did you know the CQ we have are non customizable because CCP said, we are given this quarters by default, and they are like a hotel room with dozens of people DNA in it.
So they could do the customizable ones beside the cheap, free ones we have today. That was probably the old plan. New CQ prototype |

Can add props for CQ, ship reskins and redesigns, other cosmetic things. |

why is it that people who are against the NeX store keeps posting in threads that's for the store.. Kindly p*** off. No-one is forcing you to spend your money as long as there's no "gold" items there and of course there should never be that.
But we only want CCP to spend time working on FiS stuff, you say. Well HTFU there're not.. Dust is taking a good portion of the money, EvE Valkyrie will now also take a portion and what's left gets divided between EvE and WoD.
Selling cheap vanity items and ship skins is the perfect opportunity for CCP to get a little more cash to spend on EvE Online |

Maybe, but not in EVE at this time. The fact the NeX failed dilutes your argument no matter where you place the blame for that.
There is an expression: "putting lipstick on a pig". Another one is: "if you polish a turd, it's still a turd". CCPs expensive MT experiment has failed. Should CCP completely rework the NeX and their MT aspirations in the future, it's going to be a fairly big undertaking because it will have to also involve some kind of Avatar interaction beyond the Captain's closet. CCP is having to manage ROI between 3 games, and such a rework will be expensive and is something the present player base isn't likely to embrace especially if it also means the neglect of FIS again.

Drop the NEX store (I hate that name and logo by the way) all together and combine with the market, with the ability to sort by what is sold via AU, ISK, or both. And put an actual UX designer to develop a "store-like" interface and a way to preview before you purchase.
Iterations on the market, as we've combined the contracts & market would be a way to return items before a certain number of days. Player-sold items can define that in the sell-order, ie no returns or a return-by date, or after 30 days for each day you get a percentage of your money back, etc.
Give players a way to advertise their own "store" or products and sales by combining in-game assets with other artwork. There's enough in-game assets that can be used to create advertisements, and ad space can be sold for AU or PLEX. |

tbh, as much as I hate to say it, we shouldn't get anything other than some ship skins added to the NEX store, unless CCP decides to continue working on WiS.
The main reason why anything similar to our NEX store works in other games is because there are proper conditions for it. If I decide to bite in and spend some cash on a virtual item, I better, no, I DAMN BETTER be able to show it off. As anyone can imagine, current CQ model does not work out in this regard.
Either I should be able to show the item off, or the lack of it anyway.
No WiS? The bloody door is still locked?
Why would I spend anything more than a mere $1 per item if the only place it is going to show up is the avatar picture? Then on top of that it may get covered by silly "wanted" sign, which makes everybody "desireable" in EvE somehow. Excuse me? My assets are covered by it right now! If CCP suddenly decided to add that new lace bra (or anything more appealing) to the "microtransaction" store - would I spend $10-20 on it? Hell, no! It would be covered by that nonsence! The only person that could enjoy the view is imaginery Scotty, the docking manager. And I have to tell ya, he is getting sick of looking at this potato sack of a bra which I've got burning now. ___________________ On more serious note..
As it is now, eve is about spaceships, if anything, only custom ship skins should be added. Nothing game-balance-breaking (say no to: nex store implants, remaps, gold ammo and such)
At the same time NEX store should not be removed and so-called vanity items should be added, because that would help CCP to fund Eve. This game barely grows. I find it really strange that it survived through 10 years with its bitchy, prima donna type players, which cannot be pleased no matter what and start throwing tomatoes at Jita statue any moment they feel entitled to anything.
If anything, it is CCP who got boxed, not us in the CQ. And this "sandbox" needs the sand changed. Vanity item NEX store is one way to do it. |

Right after Incarna was the only time in the game's history where the number of subscribers dropped dramatically and since CCP announced they were sorry for the disaster and promised to refocus on real Eve content subs have gone up every quarter. WiS almost killed Eve so I don't know why you think it would magically multiply the subscriber base by ten. |

You are correct! After the mess of Incarna CCP has done a decent job of listening to their players and focusing on real Eve content and the game is in pretty good shape these days. I would hate to see them go backwards.

I agree that more hairstyles should be offered but think it rather odd to sell them in the NeX shop, or even weirder as spawn drops or LP store items. I do agree with the idea of hats which seems to be on the top of the list here.
I think the idea of AUR played a good part of the failure of the NeX store. I think the prices should have been in ISK, so the shop would have been a bit more in tune with the LP shops. The concept of introducing another currency which could be bought with PLEX and not used elsewhere or exchanged back into PLEX just seems daft. |

I'd pay for the following things (with ingame plex obviously) :
More stuff to pimp my avatar look with. Golden pod. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The AUR makes perfect sense. Why would CCP release stuff that you can buy with isk, when AUR is way better? It makes people buy their PLEX and others buy the bought PLEXs.
Releasing items that offer any kind of advantage over non-aur bought items is horrible. Although, I'd love to have custom skins in eve that cost money. Just imagine the satisfying feeling when he dies to you. |

Personally I've always thought that the main failure of the NeX store was that CCP didn't seem to consider what players might actually want to buy, as opposed to what CCP wanted to sell. Which is why we ended up with clothing rather than cool spaceship related stuff.
So what would you consider buying?
plastic versions of all spaceships, even better would be a lego version of the spaceships

Custom ship skins! (in for form of implants much like the "golden pod")
And why not throw in facton and capital ships? I'm sure CCP would love people buying Titans for straight up cash! Post with your main, like a BOSS! |

Again I see that people just aren't up-to-date. You don't need PLEX for Aurum. You still can convert them for a higher amount of AUR you can buy (which is 3500AUR/Plex), but you can also buy Aurum from the account management page directly (2500AUR max), and have been able to since the Inferno 1.1 patch. |

I have said it on more than one occasion:
- Your FW rank on the flank of your ship
- Decals indicating [important] kills on the flank of the ship [ship-type dependent, number dependent, faction dependent], think combat aircraft sporting such decals during war
- The corporations and/or Alliance decal, displayed on the flank of the ship
- The creation of a unique uniform, specific to a corp / alliance
- Miniatures of the Medals you were awarded, to be affixed to said uniforms
- A trophy case in which said Medals could be displayed within the Captain's Quarters
- A frame to which a screen shot could be associated, of an important event in EVE, to be displayed in the Captain's Quarters
- Movie experiences [safaris] where CCP's outstanding marketing team could create movies of the quality used in the announcement of new expansions, where players would be guided along dangerous routes and shown sites and structures in space that were 'heretofore unknown to the capsuleer'
- A corporate / Alliance livery applied to the ship, so that fleets would have a unique and customised look as they present themselves on the battlefield
- A means of gifting someone any of said items
None of these would be pay-to-win, they all go to deeper immersion and expression of what it means to be a pod pilot. They could be affordable and they wouldn't have to cost a monocle, say, so that the threshold would be low and people would actually want to invest in them. Many of these would be recurring sales and I believe, because there are quite a bit of vanity items there, people would be happy to spend some money on them.
I want to add that I have mentioned a number of these to CCP Unifex at fanfest last year and, since you all know that none of these items are there, you should take these ideas at face value because CCP clearly has not deemed them important enough to implement.

Guns.
So we can shoot each other in station.
What? Meh. F**cking door.
Entire special shuttles and pleasure craft perhaps. There needs to be a "bridge" between the NeX store and "in space". Not "golden ammo" of course, but mainly cosmetic stuff.
The closest we come is the "golden pod" but that does not come from the NeX store.
Since NeX is PLEX to Aurum meaning RMT, it's clear that nothing should be purchased there to give an advantage in space, but the cosmetic value alone has much potential.
Yeah, people will pay for that stuff. And it's better than if they went and donated it to some political movement that screws other people in RL (fools and their money are better parted otherwise it makes them more dangerous).
I must admit that if I could get a string of Christmas lights for my ships I would. |
