There have been far too many incidents of accounts being hacked SINCE PW RESET to ignore. I've been playing since shortly after release and I have to say that this issue and CCP's lack of reassuring words are by far the most worrying situation that has developed in the game during that time.

Every time I log in and the server takes it's time authenticating I'm thinking to myself ''****, it's going to refuse my PW. It's my turn to get screwed today''. There must be many others out there in the same boat.

It seems from what others have posted that the hackers went for older accounts and as such CCP seem to have changed the PW's on those. OK, good recovery from a bad situation BUT what the hell is going on with people still losing stuff?

Nobody in their right mind would expect CCP to give away any security secrets and there are obviously things they can't tell us but the absence of an explanation, to me at least, says that they are not in control of the situation and players accounts are still at risk.

I really don't want to go down that old well worn ''I'm a paying customer etc etc '' road but....well, isn't that exactly what I (we) all are?

So CCP would you PLEASE make a statement, talk to your customers and at least let us know if your servers are secure again. We may not have a ''right'' to know but surely we at least deserve a little better than this wall of silence which has suddenly been erected between you and us?

 Please help ease our anxieties.

sooooo, you want CCP to hold your hand and provide a crying towel...

They are busy handling security, and haven't the time to baby sit self important people that have no idea what network security hassles can be like.

now go pout in the corner and behave while the adults work.

Isn't that a little over the top? Does putting someone down make you feel better? Did I say I was crying? At 42 years old I guess I need to wait a little longer till I'm an adult? I fully appreciate that they are working on resolving the issues but a one liner just to give us some reassurance wouldn't go amiss.

Really, there's no need for the tone of your response at all..

Yes, actually he sees some sort of major need for the tone of his responses. I'd suggest everyone just add DukDogerz to their mental troll list and skip past him.

Don't feed the trolls is a maxim one can gleefully live by.

CCP knows about it and hasn't ignored it. Sadly, they are not at liberty to discuss it much as you can see in the sticky.

Ok, some things to think about regards security in general.

 1) DO NOT change your password back to what it was before CCP reset it (I know a few people have done this), its just plain stupid.

 2) Check your PC for spyware & virus's. They have been the cause of some past eve security problems. I remember a while ago someone having their account hacked and it was traced back to a keyboard logging program, all I can say is thank god it was only eve & not an online bank account they hit.

 3) Don't use simple passwords. There is now a greater chance of a brute force attack on eve accounts, the game is proving very popular and there will always be some people that want to get their hands on your stuff.

 4) Never ever give out your password to anyone, CCP will NEVER ask you for it so any email that asks for it is NOT from CCP and should never be replyed to (they have the ability to see your account without your password, they can also change the password at will).

Ok, I am guilty of telling someone my password when I got rushed into hospital. I did tell a friend my account details but it was someone I trusted and I changed them as soon as I was back.

I hope these 4 points will provide you some details on how to handle security in more than just eve.

Number 2 is now the biggest threat to computers with number 4 being a very close 2nd.
