Well I have trolled the forums looking for information regarding the new Apple Computers with PC compatible (Intel) and potential compatiblity with EVE but couldn't find anything.
So my question is this to a dev or forum mod that knows: Now that there are Apple Computers with Intel processors (and one can assume PC compatible motherboards / memory etc...) does this mean that the only difference with say an Apple with Intel inside and say a Dell, is the Operating System? And if this is indeed the case, what would need to be changed to make EVE run on a MAC?
Please no trolls / or other Apple vs. PC garbage. I mearly want to know what would need to be changed and potentially if there is user support. Obviously if it is a difficult thing to do and not many users desire it is wouldn't be a good use of the Dev's time.

Edited by: Binary Mind on 10/01/2006 23:30:34 I think it's all about resources, make a little petition of 5000 ppl that would join EVE if there were an apple version of the game and they'll jump on such a version.
btw, your nipples are ssooooooo tight

The processor doesn't matter at all most likely. The problem would be DirectX and other application programming interfaces (API's) that EVE use.

Yes I had heard that this game uses Direct X and frankly I find that interesting, I would have assumed this game used OpenGl. Odd as it sounds it sure FEELS like an OpenGl game.....the same way DOOM does....but like I said Odd, I know.
Well if that is the case then getting it to run would be nill.

DirectX isn't just a graphics library like OpenGL. If they just used graphics functions then porting to OpenGl should be farily easy, the problem is replacing all the other bits of DirectX that don't have a counter part on other platforms.

No trolls please, if you follow the news new Macs have a completely new (for them) architecture which include Intel chips and seem to be anything but the MAC of yesterday.
Ah nice how the post system defaults to an alt.

(just goto Forums- Settings, you make make yr main yr default poster)
And erhm, wasn't the Mac of yesterday waht all the mac guys loved, why are they chaning it to be more like windows? kinda contradictory... * senses flames and trolls *
but nevermind about that!
Yeah, Dx vs Gl is the main problem with running eve on Macs, as the programs are so totaly diffrent, I don't even know if eve could be made to run (reasonably) with Gl _____________________________ NPC Asteroid Belt Bases Evil Is So Much Funner

Well If it's a x86 processor you could run some kind on linux on it and then use cedega suite to run it on linux. Or buy a copy of W98 and make 3GB partition and install it on this partition. But is that worth it? Does that solve your problem?
Cause if you want to use you Apple OS (whtaever its name - MacOs i suppose) I'm afraid it's impossible.
