Unless I'm mistaken, most of the advertising for the power of two promotion revolved around getting yourself an alt. Now that telling people you are an alt is against the TOS, it appears CCP is trying to actively discourage people from having multiple characters.
Since this is true, wouldn't the Power of Two promotion be promoting violating the TOS? At the very least, if they continue it, they should include a disclaimer stating that by telling people you are an alt, you are risking a ban, so don't try to do anything that might upset anyone. |

I would think that more likely it means it's suppose to be for bringing someone else into Eve and that you be sponsoring them thru this program. I am not sure but basically to me that's what it means, I do know in the past it was done that way before but since then the program may have changed, anyone else offer an idea for OP??

Those GM posts? Ok, if you use the Power of two to make an alt, scam with it claiming to be an alt of your main, then deny that alt with your main character when people complain to that character about the scam, then & only then will you be in trouble. |

this is eve. everything can be seen as (and often is) malicious. and according to the ToS their is not even a need for that
Quote:... 8. You may not impersonate or present yourself to be a representative of CCP or an EVE Online volunteer. You may not impersonate or falsely present yourself to be a representative of another player, group of players, character or NPC entity. ...

you don't have to deny it with your main. even if you confirm it with your main you are still impersonating and violating the ToS
https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=3609980#post3609980
saying "this my link alt. invite him in the fleet" is now illegal because you are impersonating yourself and you could have the intention of warping to the fleet to gank it.
unless you first check with every corpmate using corp buy orders is now illegal because you are representing a group of players. if someone in your corp doesn't like you they can report you for impersonating a representative of the group and "stealing" isk with the buy order.
every character sale where you send the isk to an alt of the sold character is now illegal because the seller is impersonating himself.
following the new wording, you can get people banned all over the place just for looking at you the wrong way.
who are your alts? |

Except the GM's have posted saying that isn't how it works. So.... you can't. I guess if you are a tin foil brigade you can go right on believing the sky is falling though. Me, I'm choosing to actually believe the nice simple explanations they have given rather than shouting about what ifs. |

in the post i linked a GM clearly states that it is impersonation if you say "i am an alt of X" even if you are. the intent behind this does not matter. it does not matter that consequences need petitioning. you are breaking the new ToS
and the way GMs handle the petitions does not matter. the ToS gives them the right to ban people for declaring alts, whether they use it or not.
by your logic you would be fine with a law that allows a death sentence for every single crime? the judges probably won't use it, so it is fine? |

They have always had the "right" to ban you for whatever reason they feel like, up to and including "Meh, I just felt like it".
