Wonderful. A new achievement for our culture. Eliminate any patience that might be needed to sit through a 90 minute movie. A hyperactive animated one at that. I'm glad my kids are too old for Disney, that theatre experience sounds like pure hell. |

What's wrong with singing along, guys!? The kids will be happy kicking seats, yelling, throwing things, and they'll want to do it all over again!
until that ipad slides between the seats, drops and shatters. Fun adventure time turns to whining.

"Imagine a theater full of children, with everyone looking down at a bright screen instead of watching the movie," writes PAR editor Ben Kuchera. "Let's hope that the app is silent or you'll be dealing with hundreds of speakers all playing music with different timing, or at different volumes. Hellish."
Disney first tested the use of the app in theaters last fall with Tim Burton's GÇ£The Nightmare Before Christmas.GÇ¥ The company says the trials resulted in "positive" responses among viewers, though you certainly wouldnGÇÖt think that based on the 5-1 ratio of GÇ£thumbs-downsGÇ¥ to GÇ£thumbs-upsGÇ¥ on the trailerGÇÖs Youtube page.
From Comments: "I'm not sure what Disney is trying to accomplish here. Are they admitting the movie can't hold the attention of a young child and needs an accompanying video game in order to do so? I think that's demonstrably untrue though, Disney movies have always been good at making young kids want to watch them over and over again."

I find it interesting that a few are calling this a desperate attempt by struggling theater owners.
I call it a desperate attempt by an INDUSTRY that got rightfully burned at the box office this past summer.

Apparently Disney is too stupid to manage properly the money they earn. Please, for the good of Disney, don't give them any more money!
(The same applies to Electronic Arts, actually. Don't give them more money! Think of the executives, they've got families too and must try to explain them why did they do what they did!) The Greater Fool Bar is now open for business, 24/7. Come and have drinks and fun somewhere between RL and New Eden! |

It is sad that there will always be a group of rabid fanboys who will pre-purchase anything at all giving EA huge sales numbers despite the eventually released product.
This is why EA can legally declare Simcity a smashing success despite the fact hardly anybody actually plays it.
On the other hand Disney has enough money to legally cover anything they say. Like one of my posted articles said, Disney declared the test of this new method, using "Nightmare Before Christmas" a huge success despite the 5 to 1 negative ratio for it in a poll.
On top of being able to flood any market anywhere in the world with advertising....they are a difficult one to beat down, that's for sure. |

I suppose Disney's goal is to get kids to sing fairy quires. Though trying to socialize kids through technology isn't going to work, that's pretty much reverse. I figured families go to theaters to enjoy the show without distractions, not disney church or shop for apps. |

Yes, we pine for the days of screaming, singing children in movie theaters, JUST LIKE IN THE OLDEN DAYS.
NOT !
