Man a week away from the game has been good. Been doing some rock climbing and mountain biking. I think I have lost 24 ounces of wieght, I can feel it melting away. Get out of the house, real life's graphics are awesome although it is buggy as hell. So put down the keyboards and get out and do something. But seriously though it was time for me to get away from these long bouts at the computer.

It's illegal not to first post without saying - 'Can I have all your stuff?'
Have fun away from EVE. I bet back in less than two weeks.

euhm where did he say he's quitting? He just said he was away from eve for week and that it did good.
I agree that the occasional week away from eve is good for your health and can be very pleasing. Helps heal the eyes too

I find it interesting you automatically assume everyone else to be drooling EVE-addicts trapped helplessly in front of their monitors, in need of a saviour to release them, and inform them of the Real World.

heh.
But we are!! Mindless drones to the hive of greatness!! He has come to save us from oppression from ourselves!! Worship! Worship the saved ones. The ones that no longer need to sit at the computer for 30 minutes to 2 hours after they come home from work!!!
After all... $14.95 a month is a hell of a lot cheaper than the money it cost him to go rock climbing. (Gas + equipment)
Not like others don't like to go ice skating, play paintball, street hockey, etc. We're just dumb, drooling, mindless drones afterall.

I get out of the house 5 times a week and at least 9+ hours a day to grind at real-life. And trust me some of the people I work with count as some ugly ass graphics...and I'm happy for the low resolutions. As far as I'm concerned EVEs graphics ROCK!

I did leave the game, just got to the point that I decided my time could be spent doing other things. I would spend a few hours in the evening playing and usually the weekends were taken up with playing EVE the majority of the time. I have pretty much just sworn off all mmorpgs. I felt it was time to lead a more active lifestyle and do some things I had been wanting to do for a long time. I am about to get started for scuba certification. And at some point I am going to go hangliding when I can get the wife to go. But it is really nice to not feel like I have to play a game when I get home or on the weekends. And yes I have left mmorpgs before and came back but I think this time it is a bit different.

I know what you're talking about, and I can see you point. But I have to make something clear: for it to even be necessary for anyone to make a post espousing the benefits of a more 'balanced' lifestyle explicitly points to the horribly addictive nature of the game.

Ah, but the "new people" don't read this forum - only the true addicts.

combining getting absolutely hammered and eve is REALLY easy - fitting in the other 2 around those is the harder bit
