So i go play with 125mm rails and antimatter, get promptly spanked. Confusion arises. When the ammo says "-50% range" does that simoultaneously decrease the maximum range AND the minimum distance you can be before actually hitting something? IS there a minimum distance you have to be from something? Just noticed that with antimatter and 125rails, i couldnt hit the side of a barn at 1km

Yes, antimatter reduces your optimal range, however, it also does more damage than other charges.

ok.... ill explain tracking to you. your guns have NO MINUMIM RANGE.
Ok, for hitting stuff far away, take your optimal range. you can hit up to your optimal range 100% of the time on a stationary target. Optimal + 1x falloff = 50% accuracy, optimal + 2x falloff = near 0% accuracy.
Antimater ammo takes away 50% of your guns STANDARD optimal range, or multiply the stat by .5. Now, when things get near you, you have tracking issues. try a web, or something. train motion prediction, fit a web. christ, read the stickies. Stressed out with empire politics?

personaly think plutonium is better...
uses less cap and but you dont lose that much damage... ____________ The cargo bay is overloaded and cannot be made to fit Expanded Cargohold I. It is currently only capable of fitting 8772.12 units and it is currently jammed full with 9558.33 units. |

Yes, your 'base' range gets cut in half.
Being a Harpy pilot, who uses 150s, this cuts my range to about 18km, but using -0% range ammo, I have the 'base' range of 36km, due to skills.
I don't think there's a minimum distance for guns, but keep in mind that closer moving targets = fatser orbit = harder to track.
But things that are sitting still or in a straight line, range doesn't seem to matter. After doing some excellents and a perfect shot on a cruiser that was 10km from me, I'm sure it doesn't.
Still, it's best to be at optimal, and with AM, that's going to be close to the target, probably 10-11km, but on the bright side, your damage is going to shpank the target.

With the right skills and setup, the extra cap AM uses doesn't mean much. If you get into certain ship setups, like Gistii Harpies, if you have cap max/recharge skills and a good cpa charger/pdu combo, you'll run the ab/sb/guns forever. I've found I can run 4 150s, and a t2 AB forever and i seem to never drop under 80-85% cap. I was maybe at 70% with an em ward running, and being down a 15% cap charger. (have a 16.5% named one in the mid still).

Good advice to always read the Tracking Guide...
Links are often provided...
You can see a 'new' Part 26 to the Players Guide...
But there's nothing there!
I don't understand why?

can run 4 t2 150 and AB forever aswell on my harpy
i was more talking about the blasters/rail on a megathron...
using AM uses to much cap on a blaster boat... ____________ The cargo bay is overloaded and cannot be made to fit Expanded Cargohold I. It is currently only capable of fitting 8772.12 units and it is currently jammed full with 9558.33 units. |

If you are using Firefox with the adblock plug-in, you might need to disable the "Overlay Flash" option. This is done through Tools -> Adblock -> Overlay Flash (CTRL + SHIFT + F).
If that didn't help, then it might be that you need to allow flash to play in security options, or that you may need a new version of flash player.
I don't know if they like me doing this, but here is a direct link to the .swf file. For all I know, that link might not work.
