If youre in a battleship with high HP/s regen and a sustainable tank, go with the resists.
Otherwise, go with the HP. ------------------------------------------------ Derailing threads with logic since 1992 |

Meh, I'm bored:
(x/(1-0.68) = (x+2100)/(1-0.6) --> x = 10500 --> break even point
Therefore, assuming unifrom resists of 60%, you would be better off with the extra 2100HP if your current HP is less than 10500HP and would be better off with the extra 8% resists if your current HP is more than 10500HP according to my math.
This is off course ignoring any sig. radius/mass penalty from the extender/armor plate.

general rule I was told, plates are good to extend fights by giving you extra time
or adding plates but at the same time adding resists to plates as some cases people used 3x hardeners, 2x plates, and rest reppers
as dont add so much hp that you cant rep fast enough or have little or no resists to your hp as you would have been better off with more resists

Personally, I'd go for the extra plate. 8% isn't that much, and you'd have to meet someone with a ******* high dps to take it out faster then with those resists. Personally I like the margin the extra plate delivers, especially with oversized reppers. If your repper reps too much, switch it on sporadicly, and use the extra plate as buffer. 8% resists can't deliver that.

A generel thumb-rule is that more HP is better if u are going against a high-DPS ship while higher resists with a repper/booster is better if u are gonna take decent DPS and want a tank to sustain that.
For example, i`ll use pre-RMR reference because it explains it better.
vs Gankageddon: More HP is preferable due to the high-DPS that ship can spit out.
vs a small gang of Frigs/Cruisers: Better resists is preferable due to the below decent DPS they can deal out.

I do resist in pve since its easier to fit and allows me to add a gyro. (I'm armor tank) I tend to do HP in PvP as Lukec suggested.
The longer the fight, the more you want to use resist. HP is really if you expect a quick fight, or you expect that you outdamage your opponent(s). ____ If your not dyin' your not tryin'. |
