Dorrim Bastorlode (spelling?) moderate a locked thread (this is NOT about moderating!!!!) and foot noted that a topic about cake was okay.
Since I am right now having a slice of Queen Anne Torte for dessert after my lunch, I figured this would be an excellent time to test that permission.

I was once making a cake to bring to work. It was an awesome chocolate cake where you had to have the cake tin in a roasting tin that was full with water when you baked it. I somehow messed up when I went to put it in the oven and poured all the water and the cake-to-be in the oven and from there the cake mixed water went all over the place, that was fun. The end.

It saddens me greatly that I got here so late in the day and I've seen someone say that cheesecake isn't cake. But, that is neither here nor there at the moment, as there needs to be more recipes in here. Let's fix that, shall we?
Pound Cake Ingredients: 1 lb. butter, soft 1 lb. sugar Vanilla extract 1 lb. eggs (warm if possible) 1 lb. flour GÇô traditionally AP (1/2 tsp. baking powder) -+ tsp. salt
First, creme the butter and sugar together at slow speed. Add roughly 2-3 tsp. of vanilla extract, followed by adding the eggs in one at a time. Sift the remainder of your dry ingredients together and then fold it into the batter until everything is incorporated. Then, pour the batter into a greased/floured cake pan 1/2 - 2/3's the way up the pan. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 10-15 minutes, then remove from the oven. Cut a slit down the middle of the cake so that as the cake rises, you can control where it will split. Place back into the oven until the cake is golden brown and a toothpick test pulls out 1-2 crumbs.
You can store it at room temperature for 2-3 days, or in the freezer for a month. Enjoy! ISD Dorrim Barstorlode Captain Community Communication Liaisons (CCLs) Interstellar Services Department |

Ok cake story...An evil one in my opinion but shows the humor (or attempt at humor) the teachers at my college had i guess
The college i went to was a bit more..unusual i guess, at least few Americans have any idea what im on about. Its the kind of school that covers farm work, forestry, horsemanship and a bunch of other things (including rafting and outdoors survival, sleeping in a tent in -30 C is NOT recommended!).
But anyway... One of the things we had to do was ofc learn how to take care of the fields, which meant leaving the school area and not returning until late in the evening. This also means that you couldent get dinner in the cafeteria like we usually did (most of the students lived at the school). Two days a week the dinner was fish, and of course everyone dreaded it (the cooks werent the best).
So suddenly one of the other teachers shows up and announces that since we cant get dinner we would get a treat and he comes with this HUGE marzipan cake! Marzipan cake being my favorite i was thrilled of course
So we all sat down, in the middle of the field, dirty as hell and tractors all around us...a strange sight im sure, with a piece of marzipan cake each. Everyone being hungry ,since we also missed lunch, we start to dog in and basically all at once everyone gets this..odd expression on their faces and starts to look a bit closer on what we are eating while the teachers break down laughing. Turned out that it was fish pudding covered up to look like a marzipan cake!
Obviously it was not enough that we had been spending our whole day out there, they had to make sure we really suffered
But for me it dident end there. For some reason my body dosent react well to any kinds of fish, so less then 5 minutes later i was standing bent over some poor peoples fence and throwing up in their bushes
For some odd reason i always get suspicious whenever someone gives me marzipan cake ever since Phoibe Enterprises official recruitment thread The Eve Reader - -áAudio Recordings of Eve Chronicles

Oh man, that reminds me of this pancake place down in Florida called The Old Spanish Sugar Mill. Basically your table has griddles built in and instead of ordering pancakes you order pitchers of different batter and stuff to mix into your pancakes and then cook them right there on the table. Soooooo delicious x3 |

Well it might seem so but when teachers and students almost live together (think its called boarding school in English) you get to know each other "outside" off the classroom so practical jokes like this is more..acceptable i guess you can call it.
Will admit they did one towards me and a friend that actually ended up with me spending 5 minutes yelling at them, them another 2 weeks glaring at the teacher in question whenever i saw him. They were making a "home video" or something like that for a school celebration and they thought it would be hilarious to see my reaction when they claimed that my room mate got kicked out for boiling one of her pets alive for fun. Needless to say this being a religious school and me using very..colorful language to describe how idiotic their claims were it never made the video
And btw, finally i can like one of your posts! Have wanted to so many times just because of your names but normally i only see your posts when you lock threads so i have not been able too

Better Than Sex Cake
Ingredients
1 (18.25 ounce) package devil's food cake mix 1/2 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk 6 ounces caramel ice cream topping 3 (1.4 ounce) bars chocolate covered toffee, chopped 1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
Metric US Original recipe yields 1 - 9x13 inch cake
Directions
Bake cake according to package directions for a 9x13 inch pan; cool on wire rack for 5 minutes. Make slits across the top of the cake, making sure not to go through to the bottom. In a saucepan over low heat, combine sweetened condensed milk and caramel topping, stirring until smooth and blended. Slowly pour the warm topping mixture over the top of the warm cake, letting it sink into the slits; then sprinkle the crushed chocolate toffee bars liberally across the entire cake while still warm. (Hint: I crush my candy bars into small chunks as opposed to crumbs - I like to have pieces I can chew on!) Let cake cool completely, then top with whipped topping. Decorate the top of the cake with some more chocolate toffee bar chunks and swirls of caramel topping. Refrigerate and serve right from the pan! |

Have been watching this thread and have finally decided to participate.
First, I will add that if cake gets dried out a little too much from sitting in the fridge (say whut?) I've found it delightful to put a slice in a bowl with some milk. Makes it tasty.
Now, a recipe. I've heard some call it a "Poke" cake but I've always heard it called a "Jello Cake". It's great as a hot day dessert.
Jello Cake
1 Boxed cake mix (usually white or yellow cake) 1 Small box of Jello Gelatin (pick a flavor) 1 Large box of Jello Pudding (Instant, usually vanilla or white chocolate) 1 Container of Cool Whip or your favorite whipped cream.
1. Make the cake per the boxed instructions. Allow to cool slightly. 2. Take a fork and poke holes through the top/crust of the cooled cake. Dont be shy, but dont butcher it either. 3. Prepare the gelatin as per the instructions on the box but instead of allowing it to solidify, pour the warm gelatin liquid on top of the cake, making sure it soaks into the savagery you performed on it. 4. Refridgerate. As cake is cooling, prepare the Jello Pudding mix per instructions. When pudding has set, "frost" the cake with the mixed pudding and allow to cool completely. 5. When cake has completely cooled, cover the pudding with the Cool Whip/Whipped Cream.

Take one pre-made frozen chocolate cake round (8 or 9 inch preferable), with one can of cherry pie filling and a large tub of Cool Whip. You will also need a jar of Maraschino cherry's and chocolate sprinkles.
Using a sharp bread knife cut it horizontally into 3 layers.
To Assemble, place the first layer of chocolate cake onto a fancy cake stand. Cover with some Cherry pie filling followed by the second cake layer. Upon that you spread a portion of Cool whip, and again topped with the last chocolate cake layer.
Ice the assembled cake with remainder of cool Whip and sprinkle chocolate sprinkles on side. With the left over cherry pie filling, place on top of cake. Using an icing bag and star shaped tip, place rosettes along outer edge of the cake top. Garnish rosettes with maraschino cherry's.
