Whats the objective with the 'focus fire' check box on the drones sub menu? Leaving the drones in aggresive state with focus fire checked, the drones target various targets and split their firing accross those targets not focussing on a single target. Or is my understanding of 'focus fire' incorrect? They act like they used to do. Nothing different.

Drones have only worked as intended sporadically since about 2007... They get fixed every now and then but... |

Focus Fire should mean deployed drones always attack 1 target as a group In reality it's not always but usually.
The Aggressive setting should mean that your drones respond independently to an active aggressive act on your ship Being targeted is a passive action, so they ignore that, otherwise 'aggressive' works as intended.

Drones do what they want when they want.
CCP knows drones are messed up, but they refuse to actual revamp them and fix them for real.
Instead they added drag and drop drones as a new feature. As you have seen the only problem with that was once in space they are still bugged as all get out.
Go figure.
CCP when are you going to "really" fix player drone AI? I am more than sure none of the devs will actual answer put hey wth why not ask again....... |

With focus fire, they will attempt to all fire on the same target. You've probably seen though, that some drones are still in combat when something dies, and others are not. Those that are not, will switch to a new target. Those that were will switch to a new target when they can, and is not always the same target as the first group.
With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Sorry, but I've been away - what is this drag and drop feature you speak of? I'm probably typing on an iPad, which means the auto-correct is silly and fixing typos is a pain. I ain't fixing them. |

A new feature was added so you can drag n drop drones from your drone bay window into empty space to deploy them, from deployed drone window to drone bay returns them. I think you can also drag and drop them to rearrange them into different drone groups. |

Which is the exact same effort and problem as right clicking to launch, that not many people wanted or cared about.
If I could drag the gardes group to F2 and hobgob group to F3 on the other hand that would be useful, and if the active drones in space status information wasn't in the same window as the inactive drones, and didn't move up and down in an irritating fashion, and if I didn't have to scroll it, and open and close the damn groups all the time to try keep everything (a) on screen or (b) prevent it from scrolling active drones off screen, and (c) if the inactive drones would show hitpoints of each drone and allow me to reorder them so that the damaged drone was 6th in the group (or at least automatically reordered them so that the most damaged drone was least likely to launch).
Then at least the drone interface would be more usable. flicking instead of right clicking just doesn't make any real difference.

oh yeah and if I could organise my dronegroups in station because my word is there is a lot of stuffing around the first time you launch a droneboat. sucks if you wanted to fight a station camp.
pretty much I have to take my drones out in another droneboat some other day beforehand and assign them all to appropriate groups. |

It's certainly not the same effort and makes actually a huge difference in practice. I do agree ofc (as does CCP) that it's not the final solution, but it's a very welcome improvement over navigating r-click menus. Drag and drop has made managing drones in frigate-heavy pvp much easier.
Radial Menu is also available for drones.
They fixed the extremely annoying folder collapse/expand issue, and your scrolling issue is trivially solved by making the drone window large enough to show expanded drones in space folder.
Make a group for damaged drones and move them there once in bay, the old workaround for the damage not showing in bay- issue. . |

I'd rather not move my mouse to the drone menu at all (that is more effort and distracting from physics events than flick vs right click is), and I don't want the active drone menu wherever the whole drone list is. Frigates have much less drones, and just having more screen realestate isn't fixing the problem by any means if you do have lots of drones.
and no the damaged drone thing is far from solved. You need to do prep before baying the damaged one, or you need to have your spare out of group to avoid risking confusion - ie you do _stuff_ because someone can't be bothered using an empty screen space to display a known variable, with an already built bar display function.

Yep, keyboard shortcuts to launch groups and return individual drones are sorely needed, but I'm also confident they are coming some day.
I keep the drone window size the same for all ships (I fly Ishtars and Domis as well) and it's not that big tbh. Drone group folders collapsed, and drones in space expanded. I've arranged the drone window, Fleet, watchlist, HUD, selected object and overview to minimize mouse movement, limiting the clicking area (including manual piloting area) to about one third of the center lower screen.
You only need to "prep" for damaged drones once in your EVE career, the groups are persistent.
Ofc it would be better to see damage in bay as well, just saying that it's not a massive issue to manage hurt drones.
