Edited by: Pirindolo on 27/08/2003 07:34:53 Does anyone know if one year CCP will fix the problem wof the small AND HUGE rocks? ================================================ Holy ****!!!!!!!
I have been checking some 0.0 far, far, far away systems and it happens this:
1.-There are many rocks of 1 to 5 units of crok or bistot. These rocks didn't grow during a week (I have been checking them every day).
2.-There are amazing huge rocks of veldspar and scordite that are growing (50,000 km radius and more). Since nobody go to mine veldspar to a 0.0 system, these rocks will one day fill all the asteroid belt, and even all the system. This is ridiculous.
If CCP wants to put a bit of realism in the respawning process of the asteroids by doing it progressively, I consider it useless: Asteroid respawning is not realistic, neither if it happens all at once, neither if it happens in a daily growing process.
They should probably change it so the respawn occurred at once, and in a random place. For example: If one player mined 1000 units of crokite in any 0.0 system, this same amount of crokite should appear at the same time in any other (random) 0.0 system.
Don't you agree?????

i agree Pirin. i made about 30 jumps to find bistot and when i mined it, it kept on depleting in me. there were about 6 roids and all depleted and my cargo wasnt even full. WTF ? (\_/) (O.o) (> <)

isn't this something to do with a growing roid thing they tried to implement but it is bugged so the roids grow too slow?

The person incharge of fixing this was out sick when this happened. CCP implemented a temp fix by repawning large roids with full minerals randomly. Just curious if there was a final word on this because we are still dogged by low mineral roids.
Pann any word?

Hmmm, I believe this IS fixed. I mined all omber, kernite and jasped rocks from my usual mining belt 2 weeks ago. Since then I moved to other belts and when I came back there were omber rocks of 200 m radius in my usual mining belt, that's about 20.000 units of omber from 1 rock.
Keep in mind that a rock which you mine until it goes poof today will respawn tomorrow around downtime with maybe 100 ore in it, just let them ripe for a week or 2. ------------------------------------------------ CCP please fix your patch so I can play with my corpmates again soon. |

As far as I know, ALL GNEISS roids in the area where I am are always "baby roids". Hedb and Hemorph are usually also baby roids too. Most other roids are usually "full", although some of the Bist also are baby roids.

roids like music and talking to them helps make them grow faster, be nice to your roids, and don't block their sunlight and you'll end up with nice healthy ones.

Not fixed, not at all.
I just went through 11 bistot roids in 3 separate fields - none of them yielded more than 16 ore. Smallest was 1 (ONE!!!!) ore.

I wonder if the regeneration is based upon volume or units. I mean 1 unit of Bistot takes up as much volume as 160 of Veldspar. That would make a 16 unit bistot asteroid the equivalent to a 2560 unit asteroid of Veldspar.
Just a thought when comparing to unit yield.

I think it's based on volume, judging from what I mined yesterday and what was respawned today. I mined both scordite and omber yesterday, both rocks respawned at 91m radius, that's like 100 omber and maybe 1000 scordite. This could be the reason why bistot grows so slow. ------------------------------------------------ CCP please fix your patch so I can play with my corpmates again soon. |

Derelict means the ship has no owner. It's a bug. Sometimes the ships show up as derelict despite having an owner flying it. And it's not fun at all to be in a big fight with several ships and get the message "derelict has started trying to warp scramble derelict".

As far as I'm concerned the "tiny roid" issue is just like the absolutely crappy loot tables. Both are simply a function of Eve's Database which is has been nurfed into oblivion. And eventually it will turn around and "bite CCP in the buttocks".

I have to agree with Petronius. This bug has been around too long. It has to be CPP's way slowing down the economy. Either that, or CCP has no idea how to fix the roid spawn bug, which in itself is kinda scary. Would be nice to get some official word on what's going on with htis problem. Maybe the next chosen few that get invited to the CSM can front this issue.

its kind of funny to see all these low ore's being so small...
and then its sad when you clean out a feild pretty much by your self that should have tones of that type of ore LOL
so what soon even the low ore will be hard to come by in an area and you will be forced to keep on moving around?
i think there is something wrong with this picture... the high ore is what we should be hunting for not the low ore support Idea: QuickInfo an alternative to ShowInfo

Concerning crokite, I can tell that the respawned rocks don't grow. I have been mining crok for a long time. I left for 2 weeks, and when I checked the same belts I used to mine there were some crok rocks too, but ALL of them were ridiculously small: 1 to 4 units of crok each. I waited some time thinking they could be growing. After 1 more week I decided to go to other regions, but it happened the same. All 0.0 systems were empty of crok or bistot.
FIX IT, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been 1 month doing it, going from catch to syndicate, from stain to venal, and the result is always the same. Once I find crokite or bistot after 200 jumps or so, I start mining and I get 4 units of ore from each one.
Come on, tough man, once CCP fixes this problem I will start moving again.

It's ridiculous if this is how they intend for ore to be.. Main reason being, Megacyte is far too rare. No Arkonor or Spodumain in the game helps with this, and the only bistot not 40 jumps from a station is only 15 units.
What are your intentions here CCP? I've stopped having fun thanks to your nurf's, your making eve a full time occupation just to get anywhere. Is that your intention?

I think CCP must want everyone to stay out of 0.0 space is all. Really, if you want to make lots of ISK mining its really hard to beat omber mining in empire space given what a pain in the ass mining the 'good' ores is.

Well Orestes asked me to post this here instead of a separate post so here it is! BTW Orestes thanks for locking my post*sarcasm*....I really feel like it was unnecessary.
I know this has been brought up in a separate post but I just want to confirm that this is an actual problem and not just my imagination or rumor that was conjured up by the masses. I hope that a Polaris member will read this and confirm or deny that this is indeed a problem.
Ok, now to the problem. I have traveled to Stain, Syndicate, Placid, Outter Rings, and the Great Wild Lands in search of valuable ore to mine. I have probably jumped more than 200 gates looking for valuable asteroids big enough to make a profit from mining. But everywhere I go all the valuable ore from Kernite and on have a radius of only 91 or less.
This may not sound like a big deal but if you actually try to mine asteroids that are only 91 in radius you will soon find that it is only a waste of time and it will earn you very little profit if any at all. I have confirmed this I I know because I can make more money mining more commmon ore like omber.
There has got to be something wrong with this picture! I should be able to make more money mining more valuable ore than omber, but as it is I cannot because anything past Kernite is way to small to even make a profit on. Please, Please....somebody from the Polaris team or the GM's clear this up for me and tell me I'm not being dillusional and imagining this!
Is there a problem with the valuable ores not growing to the correct size and if so when will it get fixed? I'm starting to lose interest in playing this game as a miner now because it's no longer profitable. Thanks for the help in advance.

I mine in a 0.3 area where there is jaspet, kernite and omber. I have noticed that the Jaspet roids never grow larger than 91m radius. I have left them there for a week and still they are exactly the same size. However the kernite and omber rocks do grow bigger. Maybe its just certain roids that are nerfed?? I mine kernite quite a bit, and I can tell you that kern does grow back. Twice now i've mined out a spot with 6k+ kern nuggets.
However, I've seen the low yield on jaspet and above in action.. last time I went looking for gneiss, I found one roid with 14 in it. Next belt I looked in, I got sloppy and let some rats warp scramble me, and lost a thorax =P
So i'm not too keen on trying that again. There's something very wrong with this. --------

We all agree: it is clear that this is not working as it should.
Then, I ask again what is the way to put Polaris, Devs, or even the chairman of CCP working on this problem?
2 whole months with the same problem and no official answers. Where can we send a request that will be read and answered by CCP?

This is just getting silly. I am now having to travel great distances to mine omber!! This needs to get sorted asap, it is completely stupid when omber never seems to grow in 0.5 systems. I remember a time when omber was easy to find in 0.8's

A lone pair of industrial ships should NOT be able to deplete a 0.9 belt of all scordite and a good chunk of other ores. Which I have done, simply because the roids I depleted over 2 weeks ago are still miniscule. ---------------- Blue Screen of Death CEO Exodus Enterprises |

isn't it kind of funny. maybe you all are not only ones mining those rocks. maybe you go and say dern it this rock I mined to extintion yesterday is only a baby. poof you take it it is gone. few hours later henry comes along and say. dern it these rocks never grow they are just babys, poof he mines the 1 units they are gone.
I mine the same belt on a daily . it never gets a chance to grow big. but then I get all there is daily. instead of old way where a rock may take 2 week or a month to respawn.
think some more on it. a belt that is true virgin, never been mined has rocks that are gigantic and still growing. and that is just way I like it

I think the problem here is that all you people want the rocks and ore handed to you on a plate. Do you think they really would wat a whole belt to respawn EVERY day? So you didn't actually have to work to find what it is you seek? Rolid respawning IS working, and the reason why you find small rocks EVERY day is because someone that doesn't know any better mines all the small ones out of their 2, 3, 4 ore, then the next spawn after downtime, you have baby roids again. That is the problem here, ignorance and greed. If you actually learned how to harvest belts, you wouldn't have this problem, but the sec anyone and their brother sees a crokite, they mine it, period.
The roid respawn works, I have used it to my ADVANTAGE. You just aren't going to get your full rocks day after day after day. That would be just to easy. If you don't want to work for your ore, guess you just ain't going to get it then. Vice-Admiral

I particularly like the idea that asteroids can be depleted and then grow a little bit a day. However some #'s should be tweaked I think.
I would also like to see them make the caps for how big a roid can get much higher. I mean if an asteroid belt is left alone for a month why couldn't a higher roid like bistot or crockite get 100,000 units in it like veldspar or scordite. It would definately reward those whom constantly scout out roid fields.

Well Im sorry you have such problems with those rare roids. For myself i can tell you im mining since days in just one belt.
Collecting around 8000 pieces of crokite. Around 3 Crokite Roids were depleted in that time. But it seems they respawn nice. I always find a new Crokite Roid in same Belt.

I disagree.
I have been checking it in a system where I was alone, and I am completely sure that there are many rocks that don't grow at all. In my case 5 rocks of crokite had a size of 4 units the day 1, the day 2, the day 3... the day 10 and who knows what ******* day too.

what I would like see is in those far out belts that havn't been mined yet, all those rocks grow so big the become 1 huge rock.then as you mine it down you get some of this and some of that , little of someting else. now that would rock. (pun intended).
leave spawn alone it is doing just fine

"I think the problem here is that all you people want the rocks and ore handed to you on a plate..."
No, YOU are the one that is blind to what is happening. Nobody is asking that the rocks be handed out. People ARE asking that the obviously BROKEN spawns be fixed. On the other end of the spectrum, I have seen Veld roids that are too HUGE to be mined with a miner 1 laser - the radius is so large you cannot get close enough to mine it. I suspect that these will continue to grow.
Get a clue before you insert foot in mouth.
