So eves a pvp game, yet we have intel everywhere no matter where we go, there's no mystery as to whos on the otherside of the gate, or whos in the same system as you unless you enter wormholes for the whole hunt or be hunted thrill.
So my idea.....
Remove local
Except in return pos's are required to gain local intel (maybe upto 4-5jumps to prevent mass pos's spam), this in return makes pos's useful and makes space intel harder to gather. You want to know whos in your system, buy a pos and run it, want to see where your next targets fly and hunt buy a pos and bang it in there hunting grounds.
This gives defenders intel if they run pos's, makes attackers work for there victory (especially in null) and promotes people to leave npc corps (no local in npc corps).
As for wormholes, make the effects of the wormholes effect the pos tower so no local can be gained.
Just an idea to bring the dark scary effect back to space instead of the "oh look bad guys in local quick dock up"
Also any ships you see while in system (without a pos) show up in local until you leave the system or they do. |

OP specifically states a case where this doesn't work in wormholes. Try reading the entire post before replying. Not bad idea. I wouldnt mind it. I'll just wait for the nullbears to post though as they are really who decide what happens. |

Probably needs to be refined a tad, but not a bad start. Upgrading Local to Eliminate All AFK Influence So Local Chat vanished, now what? |

Only issue I see with is turtling up. Hard enough to get the major players to roll out at times (goons and test an oddity, especially for summer, we usually have to wait for the winter hibernation for this stuff) and with one side knowing more than the other (we''ll pretend spyzors don't exist for the moment lol) I see some being overcautious. If not flat out isolationist.
Also kind of a ding against skirmish. I see the blob angle and needs refining...but the idea of roams being limited to where a friendly pos might have range seems limiting for it. Limited in that not too thrilled all of say goons can see the 5 man roam but the 5 man roam is praying to whatever higher powers will listen their d-scans and prober (if there) are on the mark. I know wh'ers' roll like this. But even the wh occupants fly blind as well. And neither have to worry about hot drops of doom. |

+1 Like the idea in general. Would cloak ships not show up on local until they de-cloak? And if they re-cloak, do they disappear from local? I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week. |

I think this is a good start of an idea, and like it better than the other radar type suggestion. I disagree |

And the locals could check on their intel arrays every so often, to try and discover / remove these hacks. Up to them how often they check, of course. Being proactive can certainly pay off handsomely.
