This is the first time I've had a problem with CS in the game. Before, all have been very helpful.
Today, however, in some very strange fit of lag as I warped I found my ship 8.6 BILLION (yes, billion) au from the nearest station or gate in my system.
I filed my petition in the stuck category. Made sense to me since I can't play the game until I'm moved by a GM (I calculate roughly 90 real time years for me to make it to a station). The petition was closed and I got a form letter message saying I had filed it in the wrong spot.
If my petition had been read and not simply glanced over, I'm sure I'd already be back in the game playing. It's frustrating to know that I got screwed *because* of supplying info they may need to track the problem instead of "HELP ME!!! stuck on station! cant warp cant dock!! Sux!!!!"

Edited by: Kordin on 23/08/2003 19:15:49 I just warped to a bookmark I had up on the screen that would drop me out where I needed to be while mining instead of waiting for this slow ship to chug over to the spot.
Had like a 45 second complete freeze up as I warped, then it was in some sort of loop. Kind of like the symptoms of lag where you go into warp, then 5 seconds later your ship accelerates back up to warp speeds again. Only this time that "lag hiccup" kept repeating. I'd go to warp, fine for 10 seconds, then a stutter and accelerating back up to warp again. Rinse and repeat.
When it finally cleared up, I was waaaaaaay out in the boondocks.

That's considerably the weirdest definition of "stuck" that I've heard for a while. If you can move, you aren't stuck. File things in the right place to start with and you wouldn't be here complaining.
Never ceases to amaze me how many people (not just in EVE, but irl too) either don't bother to read instructions, or read them but are too selfish to follow them - and then complain that they didn't get the service they should have done. In fact, they got exactly the service they should have done - none whatsoever because they haven't requested it yet.
Incidentally, 8.6 billion AU places you not only outside the current star system, but clear outside the entire EVE universe - it equates to about 63,000 light years, which is bigger than most galaxies from end to end. How come the game still thinks you're in a particular system? Is this another example of EVE's realism not being sufficiently accurate? :D
Another thought occurs .. anyone know in exactly which direction Earth lies from EVE? You could exploit this bug to warp straight back there

Baldour, he might as well have been stuck. Sometimes it's hard to figure out which petition category best fits your problem, and if what he says actually happened, "stuck" would have been my first choice too.

What a smarta$$. What the hell are you suppose to do? It would take forever to warp anywhere(if even possible). They are "stuck" plain and simple.

This may be a stupid question but did you try logging out and waiting a couple minutes. The game might move you off to nowhere land. It might move you closer.
8.6 billion? You should fly back yourself and have them pay you 1 isk per au. - - - - - - - Disclaimer I take no responsibility for the spelling or grammar usage in the above statement Nor do i agree with its ideas and or claims Or even acknowledge its existance. |

Ok, then please don't petition "warp stuck" either. Because you move when you are stuck in a roid or station, with 1-5 m/s. Not that you're going anywhere, but's the same with his problem.

Nice try, Baldour, but you just prooved yourself to be an idiot. Stuck is EXACTLY the right queue for this peition since it will take 136.26 REALTIME years to travel 8.6B AU at a constant 2.000 AU/s. Somehow I think that kind of prevents one from playing the game.
It is also completely appropriate for this thread to be posted in the forums, considering that a GM just dismissed the petition, obviously without reading it.
It really makes me wonder just how many legit petitions they just decide to can. It's too bad we can't actually look up the status of our outstanding petitions... if they're closed without action, I'd like to see what the GM comments are... :/ |

Well, if your ship isn't to hard to replace, and hopefully insured, what would happen if you destroyed it? Would it still take forever in your pod?
I'm a newb, so I haven't gone through losing my ship and flying in a pod. Not sure if it takes you instantly to your home station, or if it actually warps there. But I read how people consider on long travels to just destroy there ship once reaching their distination to get back to their home station.

Edited by: Tim Maser on 24/08/2003 05:17:02 I hear so many times that people would do these petitions and get answers back saying you did it in the wrong spot, please redo it. I think that is absolutly horrible. As long as it reached a real live person, I don't see any reason why that tech should not help and even move it to the right petition.
It's like that one story I heard where a man that was shot and bleeding and made it to a hospital, collapsing someway before the doors. The hospital technically can not help anyone unless they are inside, and would not allow anyone to go out and get him, so they let the man bleed to death. The hospital didn't help him because he didn't do things right, which was by not walking through the doors. Just how these GMs delete your petition as if it were nothing important if not in the right category, even when it seems right, so they basically abandon you in the same way.
I'm not saying they are murders too, it just seems bad policy to turn down any request for help that reaches them and has a valid explination of the problem. At least they could name the right petition to put it under than for you to possibly choose wrong again.
I need to find that story to find out more about that situation.

I had that bug on the Chaos server before. I warped somewhere and landed on an object and it shot me about the same distance. I came out of warp at 2 AU/sec and slowly slowed to a stop after a bit of laughing about it. All the icons of the system were stacked on top of each other at the point where the sun was. I know now that the "sky box" is infinitely far away. Luckily there was a polaris guy there to move me back. It was funny trying to get gang members to warp to me. Strange. Okay technically you are not 'stuck', but in your shoes, I would have filed this under the stuck catagory, since you cannot play the game until moved. I'm not sure why this petition was closed. I will have your petition logs checked, and see who closed it.
If you are still stuck, can you reply here and let me know, and I'll get you moved.
Please accept our apologies for this.

And to think that most ppl play games to forget the dumb bureaucracies of real life "You submited your retirement papers with an i without the dot, as such it was assumed it was a 1 and filed on the 1 cathegories... since there is no 1 cathegories u lose yer retirement funds... NEXT!"
It will be a pain if games starts having that kind of closed-mind bureaucrats that only look to stuff done-by-the-book and ignore all others, specially since "the book" doesn't have ALL possible occurrences.
...i wonder what cathegory of bugs the person that got that /petition thought u should have choosen... ...maybe u should ask that ;)

I fully understand what you are saying Probe but, we have to follow the rules quite strictly here. Basically when you file a petition (Excluding ôotherö), it is placed in our petition queue, the petitions are placed in chronological order (with the oldest petitions being at the top of the queue). Each petition has a time in minutes it has been waiting in the queue and when a stuck petition is filed the clock on the petition ticks 10 times as fast. So when its been in the queue for 1 minute, it actually says its been in the queue for 10 minutes (and thus gets moved up the queue). This is how stuck petitions are given priority, as they quickly move to the top of the queue. For this reason, anyone filing a stuck petition who isnÆt really stuck, but say, has a skill that wont train is by-passing the queue.
Because stuck players cannot play the game at all until they are moved, we try and unstuck these players as quick as possible. Because of this, we need to read them quickly, so it can be processed, and unfortunately, in this case your petition may have been miss-read. As stated in my previous post, if you are still stuck, please post here and I will have you moved as quick as possible.

That is an exploit and CCP would have to ban him for that
Paragraph 314553 of the EULA clearly states:
"You are not allowed to warp back to earth, ever. By accepting this EULA you have agreed to give up your RL. Since RL includes planet earth it is not allowed to return to that planet both ingame and in RL, whether it be for buying chocolate muffins or beer. Breaking this rule can result in a ban and you will have to deliver Pizza to CCP on a tricycle, everyday, 2 times"

I've seen this before. If you say "Warp to" on a bookmark for the system that you are currently in, you will get the outrageous warp that he describes. Also, it appears that the larger your capacitor charge, the further you will go. I can only imagine that if your skillset includes bonuses that make warping more efficient, that you will warp even further. Please, don't try to test this.
The worst part is, that even though you are actually closer to other items on the Eve map, you can only travel to them after using the gate in the system you were warping in.
If your math is correct, then I can totally agree with NeoMorph, you are stuck!!! __________________________________________________
