After checking the math on the leech reflect/neutralizing amount I've decided that these modules are nearly as useless as the were prior. The module is only beneficial for victims, that are not getting attack by ships that do not receive a boost to the neutralizing amount and are not rigged with egress port maximizer. Anyone whom fits such a module on their ship would likely be trying to negate neutralizing-specific ships the most, not least. Currently a Curse or Pilgrim would still be using much less cap that the target even if its filled with cap batteries.
A much better solution to this problem, and even a cooler idea (pun intended) would to cause heat damage to the attackers modules. This would scale better; the more neutralizing modules in place the faster the heat damage would accumulate. This could even cause modules to burnout if pilot isn't paying attention tipping the tied in battle. However, if the victim's attacker doesn't have neut's then he's wasted a mid slot. Great care must be taken not to over power the heat generated, but I think pilots with nuet's could afford to make sure they have extra Nanite paste in their hold for such cases. It would make pilots ponder the dangers of having 8 neutralizers on one ship and keep things intresting. |

They are not "nearly as useless" they are worse.

A bhaalgorn with level 5 skills will make a heavy energy neutralizer II have -1050 cap on the target every 24 seconds (if you don't use implants) and the activation is 375 cap. The victim having a large cap battery would reflect 12.5% making the activation cost about 506.25. This only makes the attacker use more cap than expected; meaning he would have to either inject more or receive more cap from other sources or shut off some of his neuts. The target is still quite screwed.
It would be nice to bait specifically for cap sucking ships, for an example to have a Amarr ship fitted with many batteries and guns designed to burn out the neutralizers of the bhaalgorn on deliberately. Currently the battery is a defensive module only, which just simply in eve sucks (in the bad way). I could see some usefulness on a logistics ship because they could use the extra cap regardless. Also fix defender missiles... |
