Hi all. I currently have 2 character, a amarr and a caldari, both with cruiser 3 and rdy to go to the world of Battle cruiser. But i have about 30mil, so i need to chose which one i'll go for.
Anything i should know before goign for one of them?
My main goal is hunt ratz in low sec and do mis lvl 3 Are both ok to do that? Is one better than other ?
Thanks a lot

Edited by: El Alamein on 16/01/2006 20:33:59 depends on if u want more mid slots and missleslots that can do sum ewar or if u want a gun boat tank (prophecy)
they both should beable to do lvl 3 missions >_< |

i myself have flown both, and looking back, i'd go for the prophecy
as long as you have "decent" gunnery skills (the usefull ones to three, medium energy to two and gunnery five (in my case) you will pretty mutch be able to rip annything less then a battleship apart with ease in belts (haven't gone up vs a bs in the proph myself just yet, so thats why i'm not sure)
go with 6 focused heavy beams, med nos 2 cap rechargers, one web 1 RCU, 2 heatsinks2, 1 med rep, 2 hardners
fit that and get out there and kill stuff have fun!

my understanding is-
if you want it for pvp fighting or npc go for prophecy as it deals more damage.
if you want for support use ferox - better tank, more versatile , can fit 2 gang mods.

i would definatly say that prophecy is a much more viable ship for pve. >_< |

Edited by: Xeios on 16/01/2006 21:53:30 Not having flown a prophecy i cannot comment on it. However i can say that the ferox is awesome. 5 heavy launchers is hardly poor dmg and they are much more versatile then gunboats. Shield resists are pretty darn good and a 12k shield with a peak regen of 60 hp/s (I only use 1 shield relay) you can tank any reasonable 0.0 spawn and all lvl 3 missions.
BTW just so you know i use 2 named medium NOS in the last 2 highslots. This is simply so if i get attacked by a player I have some real defence.

Ferrox = Baby Raven. you can even do lvl 4's in it.

Cause u r doin npcing go for the prophecy and it depends on which char has better skill's, it also can tank alot better than the ferox while having a better dmg output. i use this setup with mine:
High: 5x Foucused Pulse Laser II
Med: Med Cap Injector 1x AB 1x Cap Recharger
Low: 1x Medium Rep II 3x Hardeners(depends on rats) 2x Heat Sink II
thats should work really well m8

I'm surprised people would say the Prophecy can tank better than the Ferox for ratting. 10,000-13,000 shield points with 2 hardeners makes the ferox a very strong tank.

it really boils down to personal preference. I think the prophecy looks alot cooler than my ferrox, but my armor tanking skills and energy weapon skills are kinda weak. I take my ferrox through missions with ease that would obliterate my prophecy.
so for me it boiled down to Time/money/reward thing. I figured I could bump up a few skills an get my ferrox into Lvl 4's faster than I could get another type of BC or even a battleship. And do it for a lower cost than using a Raven or APoc.
I technically loose the same amount of isk. for loosing either ship, but for me the advantage is I'm specalizing in Caldari Battle cruisers. I got alot of "wow, thats freeking amazing! I can't believe they can't break you!" which is kinda cool.
just do the math, know your enemy. Plan well. I'm sure either one will do just fine.

Nice this is great information people.
I am currently pounding away at lvl 2 mission in my Moa and am having a blast with it. After talking with some corpies, I was also gooing to start working towards using the Ferox. I have been training up all of my Eng/Shield/Cap/Grid type skills and have them all at lvl 4 right now. Along with that I have trained up the passive resists skills to lvl 3. I think I am going the right way then for making a nice passive resist Ferox to play around with.

seeing as your in a moa, you have sheild taking skills, + gun skills, you can always run a ferox as a gun ship for lvl 3s w/o problems or much extra training. would be a symilar play style too. but then im biased as i only fly caldari and i use my ferox exclusively as a railplatform for lvl 3s

well I like both, and yes I can fly them both. The only reason I dont use a Ferox is my shield tanking skills are not up to par. I do so love those heavy missiles and I ate a Hawk for lunch when he jumped my buddy. Btw a mwd on a proph scares the crap outta people. My 2isk.
