Are there any ways to upgrade the Powergrid and CPU in your ship. I have only added weapons, but find that I am nearly maxed out on the power grid. I suspect that some skills would help me get more out of the CPU/Powergrid, but not sure which ones.
Also can you get a skill that would help (preferably a cheaper skill as I am nearly flat broke)
Thank you guys for the information.

sorry, I meant to say are there any modules you can purchase to give the powergrid a boost?

the best solution in a MIcro Auxilliary Power Core... but if you're a newbie it's weeks away at best...
I don't remember the skills but it requires Engineering and Energy management IV or something... IT's taking me nearly 4 days to get that one from 3 to 4 and I've got my learning skills up to IV in most main catagories.

yes, there are, they only require a low slot open, no CPU or power grid req's....however I'll be buggered if I remember what they are called. Check the market under ship equipment->engineering, you will find them there. I found them just by searching through ship equipment and reading the info about different modules. You will need to some engineering skills..I think engineering lvl 2 and power management lvl 2(something like that).
I have that module on my Merlin, but as I am at work, I cant look at what its called

Engineering skill and electronics skill gives 5% per lvl of Grid(eng) and CPU (elec) . It seems that just about everyone in EVE more than a couple of months has Eng LVL5. The Micro Aux Power Core will help but the more you fit the more you have to support with a straining capacitor. However, MAPCs do work for frigs ( if i recall, they give around 11 grid), it just is a bit of a haul to train energy management to 4. And don't think your problem will go away when you get a bigger ship :D
The Capacitor is empty. |

Powergrid: MAPC (+10 powergrid), Reactor Control Unit (+10% powergrid) CPU: Co-Processor

As stated, there are modules to enhance your power grids and cpu. I use the power grid mods frequently.
If you're looking at increasing your ships PowerGrid then learn ENGINEERING. You'll get +5% to the power grid per level learned!!

Weapon Upgrades skill (under Gunnery) will reduce your turret's CPU costs and Advanced Weapon Upgrades skill will reduce your turret's Power Grid costs. Both will take a fair amount of time to train. -- Lil Miner |

For cruisers and above you can also use Power Diagnostic Systems and Reactor Control Units to up PG, but they're pretty useless on a frig.
Shield Upgrades also reduces the PG need of shield modules like boosters and extenders.

Basic must haves:
Shield Upgrades: 5% reduction in shield upgrade power need Weapon Upgrades: 5% reduction in weapon turret CPU need Engineering: 5% bonus to power output Electronics: 5% bonus to CPU output Energy Management: 5% bonus to capacitor capacity Energy Grid Upgrades: 5% reduction in energy grid upgrade CPU need, necessary for power diagnostic systems and reactor control units. Science: Needed for half the engineering tree
For frigates:
Micro Auxiliary Power Control. +10 MW to powergrid. You'll need Engineering 3, Energy Management IV, roughly 125k ISK each. 2 MAPC in a Caldari Merlin is roughly 50% bonus.
For anything past frigates:
Power diagnostic systems, Reactor Control units, etc (as I learn more, I can speak better on these ships, but the percentage bonus with a 900-13,000MW powergrid is more beneficieal than a micro aux with its whopping +10 MW bonus).
Cost: Pretty cheap except for the rank 2 and 3 skills, which run between 45-300k, depending. But just do missions until you can afford them, because the fitting skills are, IMHO, non-negotiable and a must have no matter what type of combat ship you fly. If you are a dedicated miner, there may be other skills that are more useful, but at the start, the skills needed to trick out a frigate will pay big dividends in the grind to bigger ships.

That's why MAPC works better only for frigate class.

True enough, but Energy Management IV is +20% to capacitor capacity, so it can't really hurt to get the skill. I just figure if you can twink a frigate, the skills needed will pay off with the bigger ships at some point.
