Hello everyone,
I have been a member of Eve off and on for 4 years now, but have just started the idea of using multi accounts at the same time. My main account is currently combat focused and my question really is should i focus on combat with my second account as well and perhaps have that one fit a repper for the main or something similar Or should I focus more on Mining or Planetary Interaction and business oriented things with it?

Hmm depends on a number of factors.
How much time do you have to play eve?
Are you going to plex your accounts?
Or do you have enough cash to pay for multiple accounts?
What do you want to do with your game play?
Does your corp have ideas for you that you find interesting? |

Well, I work and have kids, but I would like to be able to PLEX the account if at all possible. (600 mil per plex can get interesting for 2 accounts, but when I cant make it I can afford it).
I love combat, and hate mining, but I do enjoy Planetology when I just want to sit around. Honestly though, with my corp being allied with a null-sec corp I find myself hard-pressed to be of much use even with 10 mil SP (yes, only 10 mil after 4 years... I am a soldier and havent been able to commit too much). |

You are going about this a little backwards.
First ask yourself "what do I want to do?" You can then determine whether an additional account will help you towards those goals and narrow down in what way. Eve characters need to be purpose built.
As an example with PI, you do not need a second account. You can make two additional characters on your account. Activate dual training for a month or two to get their PI skills to a decent level. You will then have three characters to pull PI income with, without having to pay for extra accounts every month. Similar idea when it comes to basic hauling alts.
You want a separate account when you have good reason to log in both characters simultaneously. This also means you probably want at least one character on each account who is going to be continuously training for some specific long term goal (even if it never undocks and is purely for the puroses of being sold down the road).
In terms of a combat character, it needs to do something useful for you. Preferably something your main will not train into. Alternately, you need to train it exactly the same and more than one to use with multiboxing software. But if you want to plex them this puts much burden on you to where managing the accounts can start to feel like a job instead of "just playing the game".
Typical reason for people to have alternate accounts: - dedicated capital ship pilot - Industry/production alts to get more slots and/or barges - spies - neutral scouts / logistics / looters - fleet boosters

Most people use their alts to do boring stuff they don't want to use their main for.
I use mine as a cloaky scout/prober, a sniper when I am ratting, and eventually he will become my capship pilot. Having that character allows me to focus my main purely on subcap PVP skills. |
