I had my mining outfitted thorax destroyed today by a Exequor and a Tristan. I was scrambled at 20km by the Exec, so I activated my warp core stabalizer and tried to warp out. To my horror it constantly gave me the message that I couldn't warp because I was being scrambled, all the while staying between 10 and 20km from the scrambler. Before I could recall my harvesters and lauch my combats, my ship was ablaze, soon after, gone.
I might have missed them, but aren't 25km scramblers counterable with only ONE stabalizer?

Edited by: Jarjar on 24/08/2003 22:38:18 1) He could have used multiple scramblers, or possibly 1/ship 2) Lag?
Edit: Oh, oh. NPCs. They're only cheating.

hmmm, I don't like the sound of either of those... I don't think frigates use scramblers, so I'd have to think it was lag. I did CTD after my ship blew up, so it would have to be...

They all have 2 strength, 25km range, as far as I know.
Your 425mm Prototype I Gauss Gun perfectly strikes some nublar, wrecking for 1155.0 damage. |

You can bet NPC frigates use scramblers, from space 0.3 and below.
The incident above sounds like Serpentis. The Serpentis that looks like a Maulus (capable of shooting missiles too even though the stock Maulus does not) may occasionally be capable of scrambling. The Serpentis that looks like an Exeqeror isn't your standard Exeqeror either.

its not a normal exeq because all npc ships still have the stats that player owned ships did in beta. ie ships using missiles that no longer have missile hardpoints

20km range, warp disruptors have a strength of 2
7500 range, warp scramblers have a strength of 1
Each warp core stabilizer has a strength of -1
NPC's use the first type, so you need two to counter.
Before anybody asks, the warp scrambler has a longer duration and uses less cap per..hence, it's "weaker".
Mining cruisers should have MWD's equipped to them...seriously. You lose half shields and 25% cap...so? mining lasers use no cap and if you're worried about the shields, as you've already found out, the extra 50% didn't save you.

You mixed them up! 20km - strength 1 7.5km - strength 2
Otherwise you would be pretty stupid to use the 7.5km range one. By the way - the NPCs are as I said cheating. They have a range of 25km (30k bounty and higher), strength 2. There aren't even player scramblers for more than 20km. The rest (20k) are using 20k range, strength 1. AFAIK frigates doesn't warp scramble at all.

Equiping the MWD's is a good idea. Just remember, when your finished fitting your ship for mining, turn OFF the MWD. You'll still be able to turn it on when you need it, but your shields and cap won't be hit till you do so. It ain't over till the fat lady falls on ya!

BTW, Frigates DO scramble. I constantly am scrambled by 10K rats in Tristans. They are much deadlier then Exequrors due to their speed.
