Marcus Ken	Posted - 2006.01.17 02:44:00 - [1] Hi Guys I see all kinds of posts about terrible lag, but in the last month only time i had lag, it was before the small patch. Tested in Derelik, Gallente and Course with over 10-150 ppl in system. So my guess is that the node where u are is really laggy, or is somethin with ur isp.

While ISP or client computer issues undoubtably contribute to some people's problems, a lot of the lag problems I've seen lately have been shared by many other players in the same system at the same time. That, and the type of lag seen, means that I am confident that there are server-side load issues. Of course, the clustered nature of the server means that it's entirely possible for your little corner of the galaxy to not lag, even if everywhere else is. One important thing to remember is that the number of people in local is a very bad indication of how much load your node is under. Unless you're in one of the big hubs (Jita etc), you will be sharing the node with other systems. Given the number of systems vs number of nodes, you could have 50 systems on one node, so just monitoring your local is only going to give you a very small slice of the picture. Of course, there is no way of knowing which other systems are on the same node as you, so it's very difficult to really see what's going on (the dev's have such tools, obviously, but it's never smart to let the users play with the admin tools!). This nature also means that the lag can come and go, with no apparent cause or warning. ------- There is no magic Wand of Fixing, and it is not powered by forum whines.
