This is hypothetical but i think serious question.
I know CCP are pushing plex quite alot. However they must be surely losing quite a lot of cash, by allowing players to basically play for free.
Would you be happy that CCP stopped doing this, and you actually had to pay for your subs? As long as CCP used that money to develop EVE even more? More FiS more WIs more what ever other acronyms you can put in.
Do you think this could actually have also a negative effect by people unsubbing? However why would this matter as they are not paying for gameplay anyway?
if they did unsub how much would the player count drop?, or perhaps it wouldnt and CCP get lot more income to develop the game?
I mean for instance all the ISK moongold gives, that could pay for free play for hundreds of players, that would normally pay the monthly fee.
Have you thought about this CCP? Are you missing out on potentially alot of income?
oh and personally if it made the game a ton better, quicker I wouldnt mind. |

Once again; PLEX is purchased for real life money. PLEX is in effect one player paying for another's account, in return for services (giving ISK). Therefore CCP does not lose any money because of it.

I dont think they are loosing on them as someone else bought the plex and as far as I remember they bought it more expencive than what a month cost. Correct me if im wrong. |

Your sub isn't free, but you are playing for free (in the accounting sense of the word) because someone traded you a cash bought sub for your ISK.

yes .... every plex has come form people who have paid for a plex or a 60 day gtc and converted it to plex.....
every plex in the game was spawned with real life money.
if ccp one way or another wasnt getting any income from plex they wouldnt be in the game.

Don't worry about it.. This is actually a very common misconception.
In truth CCP stands to make more money off PLEX than they do from paid subs. This being due to the changes a bit back that treat PLEX like any other item that can be destroyed.
Meaning, the player that was about to use that PLEX to pay for the month suddenly has to buy a new one after it is destroyed before they had a chance to use it.
Whether they buy it with real cash, or from the market, it's all the same as it was originally paid for with real world money. |

3. Profit
If you still don't get it, the first person pays monthly subscription $15 and bought a GTC $36. He just spent $51 for 3 people to play.
