Largest I've seen was so big it took up the entire belt and bumped me off it's grid. Yeah, those were fun days when mining involved trying to drain enough cap to come out of warp just a little before the planet sized roids.

I remember those.
I remember warping to a belt only to find myself inside a gigantic veld roid that contained the entire belt and hundreds of other giant-sized rocks. You could only view the asteroid I was inside if you set the zoom to maximum. Getting bounced out and off the grid was annoying though

Edited by: Deadzone on 18/01/2006 19:26:04 The problem is, everyone mines the other ores- so when the belts grow back, the veld continues to get a % of the belt growth. So they end up giagantic and people wonder why the semi-rare stuff or other ores dont really get as big as they usually were/are.
You have to mine IT ALL to get ALL ORES to grow the way they should. Vice-Admiral

Fake. You make these by turning your depth buffer off and zooming out to get a roid in front of your camera :).

Those are nice. I have seen roids about this size kicking about in 0.0 before but that's about the biggest I've ever seen. Every time I see a roid almost that size, I'm tempted to mine it dry just.. because I want to destroy something that old. But then I don't feel like mining.

Edited by: Me Loonn on 18/01/2006 21:29:26 Ah yes ..
In times before time (read: way before exodus) veldspar and scordite roids grew every DT, untill they consumed the whole belt.
Back then when the beloved eve-i was still with us (R.I.P. - we miss you), there was a competition to find the largest roid in eve, take pic of scanner results etc. Due to my horrible memory i cannot recall what size the largest roid was, but it was really, really huge - it would have made the one in that pic look like grain of sand.
Hope someone remembers that contest has stil has the pic stored somewhere ..
Largest one i have personally seen was veld roid of ~550km in diameter. --------------------------- Never argue with dumb people for they will only bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience. |

We are sorry to inform you that Chribba will no longer be coming online to EVE in the future. He was found dead in his apartment today, doctors say he had an heartattack.
His laptop was found beside him with an odd picture of a big rock showing in full-screen.
Donate all your veld to the "Chribba's Carebear Miner Foundation" today.
An unfinished EVEmail was also found; To Seleene/MC Wanting to hire protection for transport to and from 3JN9-Q, an additional perimiter protection while mining.
- The EVEmail was never sent.
