Yeah, see the problem is that it's too easy to make items. There are too many BP's out there. They should have just capped the number of COPIES you can make. Then, we'd have only a small number of people producing these ships.

They should just elimnate Copies all together. this would give Corps a chance to actually sell on the market. There should be a limited nunber of originals in game also. The costs would not be outrageous because everyone will still try and out do each other and if they charged too much no one wold buy them. We would actually have a market instead of an auction all the time. BYOM's would still be available if you wanted to haul minerals, other than that, buy off the market. Every person in the game will or does have a copy. This is eliminating the market.

Edited by: Roark on 28/08/2003 07:25:18 The key to blueprints to make the game more exciting and profitable to sellers is:
a) Make blueprints more rare (don't sell on market). Right now anyone can buy their own means of production for nearly free.
b) Allow rares to be reverse-engineered (with a failure chance) and then placed on the market.
Anyone that buys an original Battleship BP now is a FOOL. The profits per battleship are now about 20 mil each, so you are gonna have to sell well over 50 level 2 battleships (worse, you have to BUILD 50 battleships) to even BREAK EVEN, much less turn a profit. Most small corps are looking at spending more than a month or two to sell that many battleships -- because most people that would normally buy those battleships simply buy a cheap BP copy themselves! All people that are now buying original BPs are not buying themselves a better future, they are just buying themselves one big headache to get back in the black.
The market disappears when the consumers can become producers for practically free!
Argh this game makes me mad sometimes. Roark - Taggart Transdimensional - www.taggarttd.com |

There is many type of solutions of bp(c) problem. I see couple one and I would like to hear more if you agreed.
1 RANDOM virus infects old(est) bp copies and those destroyed by time. So not ALL are gone but some copies.
2 Duration how long you can use copy. Added to all and it not depend how much you do.
3 Pre patch copies ( yes I suffer too if this hapens ) are switched to limit type. Limit depends type and value.
4 Markets gets clysed by reason X and you cannot get items before markets are re-opened. Purpose of this is same as virus on part 1. Lose some pre patch copies.
Just think. I like most type 1 hapening.
I just prefer that all have good time here. |

the trouble is that yes it's good to have a market, but this game lets anyone make anything with one skill. We need a tree structure and cost for producing goods. The same as we have one for ships. this should also include, the science part. production, researches and even reverse engineering, BP Copy should all have there own skill tree and this should be tied to the type of BP.
Like now with type of ships, you have to train to fly a ship, the same should be true for the ability to make and copy BPÆs. In real life this is true. This will mean that you can have a true production corp who would then spend time and ISK, on production, science skills at the expense of being able to fight/ mine etc.
The way the game is at present is so one sided towards fighting and flight skills, and not production and mining.
Oh and the single run copies or even copies must go (yes I know that bad and yes it will effect me as well )

BP Market and Production Market
A way to get a better market would be a time limit for every bpc. After 1 week the bpc is expiring. This would limite players to get stocks of the bps and trade with other players bpcs without using them. For the bp owners this would mean there is a constant market for new bpcs.
But I agree that there are too many bps in game. I take my corp as an example. We are a very small corp but like to own (silly us) our own original bps. But we arn't big ennough to be a big manufacturer. So when we buy an orginal the only way to get some money back is to copy and copy and sell them. With this for us logical behavior we are killing the market at the same time. I am interested in hearing your points about this idea.

One possible flaw to the game is that anyone is able to do anything. When choosing your initial character composition a choice should be required that only allows your character to persue limited "career paths". Thus someone choosing to be a miner could never pilot a combat ship. A combat pilot could never mine or manufacture, etc.
I don't see this as being realistic in a game but that is what is necessary for players to be forced to band together and make this economy work as it is currently structured. Thus we get back to this is a game. Developers should focus on what players enjoy doing and stimulate the game in those areas even if it means straying away from realism. corps in the current setup will not go to war with another comp(ship vs ship battles) because the cost(time required) to replace what is lost is too great. The initial climb to the top is always a learning experience but once you've made the climb more or the mundane realities of the climb become the center of your focus. Not what people want to focus on. When you stop and look at the game 90% of the items availible aren't even used by 90% of the players(sell many imicus's lately or miner 1's?). IF palyers want the best stuff or close to it and after having made the climb once to get it and only by making it easy to replace will they be willing to risk it by entering into aspect of the game that just haven't developed, such as routine PvP combant by will participants on both sides.
