Ah yes, the tutorial. I would usually say skip that...its dull and not much use. Find someone who is willing to explain things to you because there is soooooooooo much that the tutorial doesn't cover. And to answer your question, yes battles etc are much more interesting as you progress. I still love playing this game after a few months however I think the key word in describing eve is 'potential' because CCP need to sort some aspects of this game that are seriously annoying. Keep the faith!!

If you are looking for "action" you might check out Venal region, as I've always found that area to have plenty of it.
Sometimes to win, you have to fight just as mean and dirty as the other guy. Nobody will beat you challenging you to the field of honor for pistols at dawn. They have to slit your throat while you lay in bed, just like you'd do them. - Jash Illian |

The more you get involved in the game with its corp v corp battled, pirates and better equipment to use then the game gets more fun. Also there is a lot more potential to come.
You can see your race by turning it on to display in the forum settings.
So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak. |

why ? There are so many small and medium sized corps worth joining why should he limit himself to big corps? IMO as a new player it¦s even better to join a small or medium corp because he really gets to know people and usually they work closer together meaning that as a new player they can teach him about game-mechanics.
And another point: No small corps, no big corps. Don¦t join big corps just because they¦re big! Join them because you like them, join them to make friends. After all this is what the game is about.

I say join a small to medium sized corp with 10 to 15 members. It feels great to help your corp get their first Battleship. Also your corp mates will be able to help you much more then reading any tutorial or article.
As far as just starting the game i wish i had trained my learning skills earlier. I was three weeks into the game when i first realized they existed. They cut down on your skill training times dramatically. Good luck and welcome.

unfortunately, i would have to say 'no' it does not get signifigantly better.
there are PLANS to make it better, and we all hope they come to fruition... but in all honestly, what you have seen so far is what there is of the game.
if you like this sort of thing (which i do, very much) right now you have to 'make your own fun'
and unfortunately, there are not a whole lot of tools to help us do this yet.
i really do think this is going to change in the future, and i really hope eve becomes something special in the world of MMORPGs...
but for now...
the mining you have seen, yes there is a lot of that.,
the random agent missions, yes a lot of that
the somewhat disconnected from any outside events NPC pirate combat, yes there is a lot of that...
none of the pieces really come together to form a coherent whole just yet...
but, as i said, i have faith...
so, i would urge you to do the same. check things out, join a corp, DO make your own fun...
hopefully more tools to let us do this are on the way. ----------------------------------------- And trotting scatheless through the gorse, And bristling in the fell, Lord it is Death, upon that horse! And they're the hounds of hell |
