Is this possible? I had another thread a week ago but I can't find it.  and I dont think I put my question clear. I want to be in good standing with both factions. They are my favorite factions and I am Intaki, and consider myself both part of the Gallente and Caldari civilization. This is of no importance but I figure I will owe you an explanation for this odd request for information.

the only way to do this is to decline missions that give negative faction for the other race you want to keep
i do the same, have high standing with gallent, caldari
races, and deline the missions that would give bad
-I don't necessarily agree with everything I say.-

Yes it is. Work for mordus and sisters of eve. Both increase caldari/gallante standings faster than their own.

Well, you only lose Caldari State faction when you do an important mission for a corp in the Gallente Federation, and vice versa. (Well, there are other factions that they don't like as well, but let's pretend we're only considering these two.) However, the standing gain you get from these important missions is more than the standing loss you recieve from the opposing faction. so if you worked with a Caldari Corp and a Gallente Corp and did roughly the same number of missions for each, both factional standings should *slowly* grow over time.
Personally I just trained diplomacy to lvl 5 and ignored Caldari for the most part. But then I've dropped to like a -3.0 standing with them now.

The other thing to do is pay attention to what needs to be killed in missions. If it says to kill ships of a faction that is important to you then decline the mission. Killing ships results in very fast faction loss.

ya it is, i have a faction standing of above 6.0 for all 4 major factions

He wouldn't have any faction standing with anyone if he hadn't done any important missions.
Yes, it's possible, and yes, it takes an age and half bewcause you need to work for all factions and switch frequently and you still get bad standing with the smaller ones.

well I have a high standing with Minmatar Republic and the Amarr Empire. so yea. Its possible if u uber train ur social skills

Alternate the missions.
Don't kill any ships of the other faction.
Do the storyline/important missions.
... and kill a lot of other factions while you're at it.
Many of those will be like Ammatar, Thukkers, Khanid and Mordu's.
Small factions, but sitting between the empires.

quite hard to pull off, took me like a year and a half to get em that way although i havent done many missions since 2 major patches ago so that was like november of 2004, since that time i might of done a total of 6 important mission, mainly cause they dont come up like they used to

The best way to increase both caldari and gallente standing is to do missions for a third party that has a positive standing with both caldari and gallente.
I dont know if such exist anymore but as my best standing is with gallente and after a few factions that I have never even bothered with (Sisters of EvE, Jove, The Society...) comes Caldari, with skills I think the standings are 4.somthing for caldari and close to 7 for gallente.
To my own large suprise I have a really crappy standing with minmatar despite having between 8 and 10 standing with 5-6 minmatar corps.
I started doing missions back when you needed to do 200+ missions for a lev 1 agent to gain the privelige of aquiering one lev 2 agent at random) I have since then done missions for one reason or other off and on through all the changes, apart from early on I was most active when increason my standing with R&D corps to gain access to high quality R&D.
Anyhow, for some reason I have a very low standing with minmatar and ir really buggs me :)
Nomatter, it is possible to gain positive standing with all the major empire factions as long as you do missions for all of them and deny missions that specifically targets the oposing factions.
Igf you for example are doing missions for a gallente agent and he wants you to go after a bunch of caldary troops it may be wise to simple say you are not upp for this nickle and dime buisness.

Fester, but can you clarify, I should or should not do important missions? People are saying important missions are the ONLY missions that raise faction standing. So, I just wait for storyline important missions and do those for all of the factions?

It depends on the important mission. If it the detailed description says you have to take out ships of a faction that is important to you then decline it. Otherwise accept the important mission. Important missions raise faction. Other missions only raise standing with that corp.

Ok, some people have been saying that all important missions lower standing with enemy factions also. I don't know what to think now. People are saying it one way and another way.

bumpo, if an important mission doesnt involve killing caldari ships can I do it without a caldari faction loss?
do such important missinos exist?
