With the recent patch a problem has reared it's ugly head. Getting "stuck" on astroids and stations when entering warp. Not only is it frustrating and time consuming, but if being attacked and trying to warp away in your Indy (or anyother ship for that matter), and you get stuck on a roid you can kiss your ship good by. And the problem has been made worse by not being able to use afterburners and mwds while in warp. There should be some way to cancel warp at anytime, even at 2au, if this were real would you not be able to shutdown the power and close warp feild?

I agree just lost my indy to a group of low pirates that spawned after I warped, but was stuck so all I could do is watch 400k go down the drain.

Edited by: Baldour Ngarr on 25/08/2003 18:42:01 Fix the problem, not the symptoms. We don't need a cancel-warp facility - we need to not have ships getting glued to asteroids that they're 4,000 metres clear of. :)
Incidentally, if you are stuck in warp and glued to a rock, logging out and back in will cancel the warp. But in the time that takes, the pirates might have killed you anyway .. still, worth remembering.

Good advice about logging out and back in, I will keep that in mind. But still, something should be done about this problem.

Yes we do need a cancel warp ability. Using stop ship should be a good enough way of doing it too.
Also logging on and off DOESN'T always free you as I can testify to last night. I logged off and on several times.
The only solution was to have a corp member ram me off the roid I was stuck on.

I agree fully, I have asked on the patch forum to have modules not go offline untill you actually warp away, I emediately got an answer from a dev guy (had the yellow eve thingy under his name) saying modules were not intended to go offline untill you actually warp away.
That was bout a week ago and thus far nothing has happened.
I also agree you should be able to cancle warp at anytime untill you actually warp away at minimum.
Yes I think you shoudl be allowed to cancle warp at any point along the route as well but that is a different matter.
As for your coment Joshua, cancling warp = exploit, not if you change the game to take account of it, NPC pirates do not loose their target lock on you as you align with your warp destination, in all honesty I cant see why the target should be lost and the warping player should be safe during the seconds it takes to align.
All you have to do is to make the warpjammer not be able to grab the person during that time, once the warp drive is activated message has been given you are jam proof but you should not be invulnerable to turrets, missiles or any other modules than warpjamming modules.

Simple change to avoid the stuck problem:
When you click Warp To, it should NOT immediately enter "warp mode" but should turn to the correct direction, and begin to move that way. All during this time it should be possible to stop the ship or change direction (it's at this point that the ship could get stuck on an asteroid). THEN the ship should enter warp and wizz off.
BTW logging off and then back on doesn't fix this.. you have to log off, wait a FULL two minutes (three to be safe), then log back in. The two minute wait gives your ship a chance to dissapear from the game world, and so cancel warp.

A cancel warp button would be great, for more then just the "stuck in warp" problem.
All too many times I accidentally warp to a different place of the same name as my actual destination :(

I agree it could be used as an exploit, had'nt thought of it that way. Unless they make it so only after you have entered warp the invulnerability would take affect. While aligning for entering warp you should still be able to manuver. This would remedy all/most problems discussed here.

I can only say that it's always worked for me. Maybe it's just that I take longer to get back in (I always have to reboot my PC after playing EVE) so the two-minute timer is up and my ship's been taken out of space. Just a thought.
I maintain that a cancel-warp option would be a bad thing. It might be a necessary evil until they fix the glued-to-rock problem, but I'd rather see the problem *fixed*, instead of a workround introduced.
Maybe you shouldn't be allowed to go to warp unless you're at least 10km away from any object?
