DEV's have talked about this possibility but it was rejected, in the next patch we should be able to rename all of our containers, making them clearly identifiable & thus creating sections in your personal hangar

Containers would help a bit, but you wouldn't be able to see your assets if they're in containers in your items via the assets menu option. Which is the reason I don't split my stuff into seperate containers at the moment.
Why was personal folder rejected?

The two downsides I have with using containers is that they are not remotely searchable, and they dont appear to stay in order.
I am a major pack rat, and tried using giant cans to sort my gear into logical groups. So 3 cans for turrets (large, medium, small), same for lasers and hybrids. Cans for each ammo family (hybrid, projectile, crystals), cans for armour tank stuff, shield tank stuff, a can for each ecm type, a can for power mods.
At the end of sorting this, you open your hanger floor, and the cans would not be sorted in any particular order, and would not sort alphabetically.
I would normally stock pile like this until a had a large enough stack of items to make it worth putting on the market.
Anything named I would keep forever, I made a fortune when internal forcefield arrays went from being useless to being uber.
