Greetings fellow children of Bob!
I come to you today in asking about something I hear about often, but never see first-hand in practice. I'm curious, how common are 'arranged fights' in wormhole space?
Generally speaking the organization I am with finds themselves being on the "blob" side of things, not because we want to be blobby, but because we have a good number of people, all are very enthusiastic to participate and don't want to be left out of the action, so lots of people show up for fleets.
When roaming, we somehow always seem to only run into gank-like situations (ie, coming across a noctis by itself on a hole or a couple of barges or something). In the rare case we do run into another actual fleet, we usually outnumber them by a decent margin, so we have a distinct advantage there as well.
I've tried a few times when lumbering into a random connection through our static, I come across a small group of people who are obviously active but not engaging, likely due to fleet comp differences. I have queried these people, countless times upon countless systems, asking if they would like to arrange 3vs3 at the sun, 5vs5, whatever they can muster. I've even offered shipping down, offering "hey lets just do T1 cruiser brawls at the sun, so people can re-ship and keep coming back for more fun at minimal expense".
In 100% of the cases where I proposed something like this I was flatly denied, usually with some comment about "you wouldn't keep your word". Thing is, I'm not from a 'notable' wormhole organization, in fact I don't think we exist on any of the "notable wormhole entities" wikis/documents/posts out there, so its not like we have a good or bad reputation, they just assume nobody keeps their word or something.
After our offer is denied we usually just wander away to look for fun elsewhere, we do not taunt/harass/etc, we're looking for fun not to ruin other peoples' fun...
So, to make a long story short - I ask again, what is the real-world frequency of arranged fights actually happening? Is there a distinction between what class of wormholes? Generally we find the most populated holes to be C3's with null statics, which is where the majority of these offers have been put on the table, but there have also been occasions in C2's with C4 statics, or C1's where we were equally unsuccessful. We find C5/C6 holes to generally be empty during our prime-time, so haven't even had the opportunity to test offering in those classes..
What has been your experience? I think the majority of the wormhole community is out to get fun fights, and I get wanting to win instead of lose, but why turn down an arranged fight with T1 ships? So what if we broke our word (we wouldn't), at worst you lose 50m ISK worth of T1 cruiser hulls+fittings and you gain valuable intel about the opponent (not keeping their word).
What do you guys do to actually find a fight?

To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't believe it when someone said "Hey we just lobbed in your hole, with our blob. . want to 3v3?"
I will also assume you posted this on an alt. . I don't see how that is going to be a good way to gain any sort of reputation when you won't show the corp or the characters we'd be seeing venture into our respective homes.
Basically.. posting that you would honour 3v3 or 5v5 arranged fights on an alt toon without telling us who you are just says "probably a trap" to me. |

Get a reputation. When we ask for a 2v2, we mean it. I want to call out, this is just how WE operate. This isn't how I expect everyone else to operate.
You may find that people will ask for a arranged fight, and have 0 intention on upholding it. EVE is a sandbox and everyone is entitled to play their own game. Just learn from mistakes and when that group of people wants to do it again, double cross them better !

We will fight anyone and honor all fights.
We've had a couple arranged fights. Once with KIWF and one of my guys had a 1v1 with SUSU recently.
They are out there, just keep rolling and follow the chains :-) |

Honestly I would post with my main if I could, our organization has standing rules about posting in the forums, we can't post with our mains. Our leadership in fact prefers not having a reputation or anyone being familiar with us due to overwhelming paranoia of (insert something I don't understand here), which perhaps is the core of the problem. I am but a grunt, quite frustrated with regular "PVP days" that yield nothing but a covetor kill. Honestly I'd rather lose a pimped out T3 in a fun brawl than get kills like that. Maybe I'm just in the wrong organization? :)

I am fully OK with people not honoring arranged fights, this is EVE, backstabbing is part of the game. What I am kind of at a loss about is the complete unwillingness to have an arranged fight, not a single bite. And no, we don't roll in with he whole fleet, our scouts make the request for arranged fights before the other entity even sees our fleet generally.
Is it safe to say that you both seem to have no issues finding fights in your organizations? That's kind of the core of what I'm getting at, is it my organization and the way they operate, or is lack of arranged fights just how it is in wormhole space? I come from a nullsec background where even there we had occasion for arranged fights just to keep things interesting without calling in the hotdrop brigade and what-not. |

Null sec is somewhat safer to organise prearranged fights, Local gives a good indication of the numbers in system so it's easier to determine if something is a trap or so on.
Everyone has their quiet times in all things, even PvP I wouldn't say you are in the wrong organization. But the paranoid about posting on forums etc is similar to what others are like when our quiet local chat pops up with "hey guys want to do some 2v2/3v3 etc"
So you either carry on the way it is. or get your corp to relax it's paranoia and let it get known for honouring prearranged brawls. |

Generally when we arrange fights we have about an 80% success rate in getting at least something (even if it is only frigs or cruisers at the sun)
It is easier to get people to agree however if you belong to one of the notable groups or have a public face on the forums.
But at the end of the day, some groups are that risk adverse that they would rather sit in a pos than potentially lose a t1 frig or cruiser..
Hope that helps,

arranged fights are offered and honored at all times. refusal to fight is where you really get into trouble. I know T1 cruisers is a big risk but losing your home is certainly worse no?

I often play in fucky time zones away from most of my corp due to my weird work schedule, and I barely see any fights, I've never been hailed for a 1v1 by a stranger but if I was I'd try to meet up and have some fun. I would full expect to be welped and find myself back in some high sec station but meh. I have piped up in local when I see another group to scared to fight that i'd bring a hawk or a caracal or something for a good fight but I too always get the your going to bring all your friends crap. Even offered to fleet up and meet at one of their safe spots just us and to no avail. |

Arranged fights....smeh. Unless it's a tournament type deal, I really dislike the notion of arranged fights. Wormhole space, to me, is all about the surprise. Most fights will end up being one sided in those circumstances. However, when you do end up getting the rare good fight, it makes it all the more fantastic.

You obviously didn't read everything. We have never broken our word, EVER. I was stating that I am OK with others DOING it, because its the NATURE of EVE, to be unpredictable and to allow for that style of game play.

Honestly speaking, YOU guys are the only ones we've gotten decent fights out of that weren't one-sided (ie, we weren't the blob). I've heard a lot of people say a lot of gripey things about KILL, and there's that big forum wall of text about you guys, but honestly, I've got nothing but good things to say about KILL when it comes to PVP. I tend to approach EVE in as stoic a manner as I can manage, ie, it is what it is, don't whine about it.
It would be cool to have some more, cheaper WH fights. I miss Thoraxes, Algoses and Incursus/Enyo. The problem is if you're a big enthusiastic corporation -- why would you ask some people to stay home, or downship, just to give whoever you're going to run into on your roam a better chance?
Right now, still trying to make my bones, I admit I'm torn between responding to all challenges and wondering how long it'll take to replace the losses. But if I had a big ol' Strat Cruiser blob with ECM and logi support, hell yeah I'd want to see what it could do... |

We have challenged corps for straight up fights, usually THEY don't keep their words, so I've stopped doing it.
Lately, when I have offered, the response is either, "We don't do arranged fights," or "No."
My usual response is to move on. We usually only stay behind/leave alts if someone insults our space honor with harsh words. Then, we seriously contemplate burning everything down (we don't and haven't evicted anyone yet).
One option for getting fights as a large group and NOT blobbing is a tactic I was once advised from a larger entityt: "make" things escalate. Basically, tackle something with a small, easily killable group with a good tank, and try to get the other to bring a fight while you slowly kill your prey.
To be honest, this is one way to control the blob--gradually leak in your PVPers/fleet to match what they bring if you don't want to blob. Its not ALWAYS that controllable, but good intel helps a lot.
Normally, however, we just hunt and slam into whatever we find, truth be told. Join End-of-Line, -EOL, today, and kill your CEO!(Terms and conditions apply.) |

it sounds to me like your biggest issue is the fact that no one knows who you are. Your "standing rules" about forums is garbage and accomplishes nothing. Unless people know who you are your not going to get arranged fights , build up a rep of honoring them and they flow like water. But likewise it only takes 1 mistake to lose all of it, word travels quick about who wont honor their agreements.

We literally just had an arranged fight a few hours ago with Upholders. No tech 3s or battleships, no podding, 8v8. Not the first arranged fight we've had, either. Probably the best way to get started is just to make the stakes low, t1 cruisers should do it. |

I know the NoHo guys are quite happy to have arranged fights. There's quite a few big and small corps out there willing to do it.
I guess the only way to find out who will actually honor them, is to actually test it and make yourself a list. Pretty sure i remember noho having an arranged t1 cruiser brawl with hard knocks for example a while ago.
If you have rolled into one of those corps holes or they role into you, don't expect it to happen if you don't ask though is all i have to say. Cosmic Scanner / muu lufragga |

You invaded us because we didn't agree to an arranged fight? Not sure what happened after I went away from game, but I know for a fact we had a few fights with you guys before I went on break. They were pretty good iirc, so I am not sure why that would cause any issues.

I am saying that a majority of the time they will be one sided if it's not arranged. That is just the nature of the game, especially in wh space.
