Eve Trade Analyzer by Jentai Cylor
I have placed a new version up for download.
This one has a few new features including a Point 2 Point search I am rather fond of.
Make sure to read the README.TXT for more information.
Please be open with your comments, I would hate to think my efforts are unappreciated :)
BTW, it an executable file, so please take all precautions needed. I know it was safe at the moment I zipped it, but I can't speak for after that of course.

Odd bug, it seems you dont have one of the basic DLLs required. Of course, every machine I use also has MSIE installed.
What is your system setup? That may help to isolate what is missing.

VB5 runtimes
Here is the kink to the runtimes from Microsoft. Chance are the windows version you are using doesn't install these by default (98,ME,NT,ETC).
And if your running it under WINE in Linux I won't be able to help you much.

I get that error on XP, even with those runtimes installed.

Ok, easier just to make an install package with dependencies accounted for.
New D/L has been put in place that uses "setup.exe"
Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for such a quick response. It still seems to be the older non "setup" version so I'll just check back a little later.

Should be there, makre sure to delete the old copy. File name is the same since there is no actual code changes.

Not having much luck with this program. I exported about fifteen trade goods in Verge Vendor.
I started the program, entered my max cargo room and set the source directory for the exports. The date of my exports popped up in the little box. I hit the button to load them... (poof) program disappears with an error.
I restart the program, try it again. This time it loads the exports. Following the instructions I set my current system and try to display trades. Nothing seems to happen. I review the instructions, try again. Nothing.
Thinking that maybe the settings at the Load Export popup were too restrictive I quit, restart the program and try to load the exports.
(poof)
program disappears again.
I see alot of potential here but for whatever reason the program either doesn't seem to display anything for me, or assplodes. I swear I did not spill Dr Pepper on the setup file!
Thanks again for getting a "setup" based install uploaded so quickly for folks like me to try. Hope these problems are just because I am dumb, and not an issue with your program.

When it loads the exports it also moves them to the "Export" directory. There needs to be a sub directory called "Exports" in the same directory you load them from. I use this to keep a history of the exports.
Make sure you create the sub directory. i.e. if you load the market exports from "C:\Games\EVE" Then you need a directory "C:\Games\EVE\Exports"
It sounds like the sub directory wasnt there so it exceptioned out. Then you went to try loading without the files being there any longer.
I should probably put more error checking in, but it takes time away from my trading :)

Also make sure about the filters. I have the min profit set to 1mil by default.
Nest try, outline what filters you used and also record the error msg if any.
The more info I have the easier it is to identify the problem

Edited by: Drinky Crow on 21/01/2006 23:49:36 Okay, this time it worked. I already had an exports folder so that was not the issue.
My new problem: I'm not sure what all those columns of info are!
I'm going to fiddle around a bit until I can sort out what's what, but at this point it's working.

Please add labels at the top of the screen so we don't have to load your webpage faq every time we want to use your utility.
Thanks for making this, it helps alot. I am a good judge of where to buy and where to sell, but I need a program like this to tell me how far apart the different systems are, and I see nothing in game that helps me with that estimation. If I see a good buy point that's 4 jumps away, and a good sell point that's 6 jumps away, the distance from buyer-seller may be only 1 jump, or it may be 11!!! A program like this really helps with that.

I can't get it to work. Followed the instrutions but, nothing comes up when I try to use it. Just stays blank. The instruction did say something about moving old export files but, don't know what it means. Nothing in my Eve folder has export for a name besides the folder I made.
Needs a tutorial so it's understood exactly how to use it. Instead of just saying how to make it work explain what it is doing as well. Like what is Import Dameon?
Export Dameon: Waiting. Do I need to wait for this for a while or should it be quick? What is it? What is it doing? Just a more detailed readme file. That's all I can think of since I did what it said and I get nothing.
Just lots of questions about what it does and how it does it. No tthe obvious either. I know what the tool is used for but, what is it doing exactly. How is it getting data from all regions when you can only get it from one ingame? Are we even supposed to be using this. I have never played an MMO that approved the use of 3rd party software. I assume we can since it's in the forum.

Do this exactly.....
Start the application. Does it star without an error?
Click on the load button. Does the small window popup?
Set the filters values. Make sure they are reasonable (try 75k profit per 1k cargo space, max jumps at 30, min cargo at 0, secure routes. Set the maximum export age to 0, and the load cycle to 30). In the export location directory listing, point it at your EVE directory.
Now click the "Start import daemon" button.
Depending on how many export files you have loaded, it can be fast or take awhile. Be patient, the small window will close itself.
The export files are "*.txt" files in your EVE directory. The firts part of the name will be the region, followed aby a dash then the item name, etc... The extension will be txt.
They will be moved to the exports direcotry as they are processed, so dont be surpirsed when they disappear.
After the small window closes, click the "Generate Trades" button and wait for it to finish (it will grey out the buttons while it works).
After that is done, then select the type of search you want etc...
FYI, use the link on the webpage to post in the bulltetin board I will be watching for problems. It was dumb luck I saw this :)

I think the part that you're missing is this: The software doesn't get the export files for you. YOU have to get the export files for any items you want analyzed. You do this by going to a system in a region you want to export data from, opening the market window, choosing the item you want to export data from and clicking the "Export To File" button.
Once the export file is on your computer's hard drive, the software imports it and allows you to analyze it. This works best if you have a few different regions worth of data available for the analyzer to crunch.
A note to the creator of the software: THANK YOU! This is a fantastic piece of software. Last night I was able to make about 10 million ISK with just a single trade that was found using ETA.
