I don't regularly do missions which perhaps explains my situation. I did a few Caldari ones to make some money and for a change of pace but neglected to look at my standings toward ....
So I took the advice of one of the teals and started swiming with the minnows (Minmatar) to gain storyline missions to reduce my negative standing with the gallbusters. (Galente) (started at -2.50)
So they give me Human Cattle, twice. One time I got a reset complete(Let us Now Praise Famous Men) on (lvl 2) part 5 of 5.
Second time round, no way. I was told to get close to the battle ships until the journal blinks in order to get my mission complete.
So I'm running in a Caracal and clear out the first two pockets. I take a shuttle into the third with the sentry guns and battleships:
Only half expanded the overview and I counted 4 sentry guns 5 Amarr Navy Geddons 3 Amarr Navy Apocs 9 Amarr Navy Deltas 3 Amarr Navy Gammas
So you can double that.
Gamelog, Listener: Cudaya Ebsldes, Session started: 2006.01.20 22:55:43, ETC. [ 2006.01.20 23:00:59 ] (combat) <color=0xffbb6600>Amarr Navy Gamma I Support Frigate hits you, doing 23.3 damage. ETC. [ 2006.01.20 23:01:16 ] (combat) <color=0xffbb6600>Amarr Sentry Gun places an excellent hit on you, inflicting 264.1 damage. Insert podding here-> at around 100km.(The pod blinked, but I guess that didn't count)
So I retreated into verbosity and appealed. Received the thumbs down (you gotta use more than a shuttle to tank those guns....)and took the hit.[Could I borrow a panzer army from Civ IV?]
I didn't feel like getting my battleship and trying to do a level 4 mission assigned by a level 2 agent.(about 18 hops away)
What annoys me is they state that it is a reon. mission, period. They don't state kills and in addition they say to go "as far as possible." This description is not accurate as I have to fly a certain distance in.
I am of the opinion that in English "as far as possible" is not idiomatic for "fly to ....km of battleships."
Must have lost something in translation.
But I still can't understand the procurement definition, and those Spirts in Ducia foundry?
"etc, etc, etc,"(from the King and I)
For your information, only.
All opinions herein are definitely NOT the property of the author.
(P.S. I have only one request. Could the owner of the toon responsible please keep a negative standing so that I could have the emotional satisfaction of placing a bounty on his/her head. Thank you.)
(PSS -- Shouldn't it be "Human Livestock?")

You only have to kill the Interceptor at the very last gate. The BS and such are completely optional. If you looked at you journal as you killed the interceptor at your end, it should have said mission completed.

Thank you for your reply. They gave it to me again, so I hope you're right. If not, I understand over here in the states it's National Hugging day. So I'll hug someone(or a whole bunch of people) if I get podded again.

Edited by: Topodo on 21/01/2006 16:51:32 Yes, all you need to do is kill that lone frigate at the warp in point to complete the mission.
I don't know who told you to get close to the battleships. Hopefully they don't give you much advice about other hard missions. Or rather, that you don't take it.

that last room looks pretty scary don't it? But yeah just the one guy at the begining of last room and you are all good. I have done this mission about 6 times now.
One of these days I would like to get a nice sized fleet and go after that big fleet in the last room. Maybe when I grow up :)

Human Cattle is a bit of an oddball to be honest, it's FAR too hard for a level two mission, considering the majority of people who do level 2 missions and in what ships (t1 Cruisers/frigs).
I've had to help newer corp members out on this mission a few times in the last few weeks, purely because unless you warp in, do a runner and snipe from range, you'll get ganked in alot of ships outside of bc or higher, as you just wont have enough tank to surive the onslaught.
However, If I still had my enyo, I think that would do it fine, as it stands, I ended up doing in a geddon (I have no other ships barring a hauler, a barge, and a couple of t1 frigs, so dont moan about carebearness)
Personally, I think the difficulty needs to be lowered, you shouldnt need a minimum a 20 mil ship (AF's) to do a level 2, cruisers should be fine and will do ALL of the other level 2's.

While I agree that the Human Cattle series is a toughy it does NOT require an AF or a BC to complete it. A competently fitted cruiser and reasonable skills will be enough to complete the series.
I've completed Human Cattle many times in my blasterax, so long range sniping is not required providing the character has the skills. However, for a low skill new player I imagine this does come as something of a rude awakening.

First time that I ran this mission I lost my Rax in 3/5. Why? Because I got warp scrambled and webbed. I was NOT happy. In order to finish I had to recruit some corp mates. The last part, 5/5, was ridiculous. If players are not careful they can bring some serious harm upon themselves VERY quickly. I wish that CCP would "neuter" those ships on the horizon and just leave them for "shock effect" but not really do anything to the player. Anyways...second time around I'm running it with a Vex that is equipped with a warp core stab...world of diff. But then again...who would have thought that in lvl II missions one would be warp scrambled AND webbed... ------------------------- Who? Me? |

I've said this in other threads, but if you think you got scrambled on that mission send a petition. I've done Human Traffic a lot and the first few times I did that step, I warped out a lot until I got my tactics right.
While I was certainly webbed, not once was I warp scrambled and I find it highly surprising (not to mention suspicious) that anyone else would be. File a petition.

When I got it the second time I took the Caracal and then stopped dead on the other side of the gate. Didn't want to take a chance on any drones running wild, so just pounded the interceptor or frig at inside of the gate. No problem. It died, I didn't have any problems and warped out. Got the complete.

Yup...I petitioned right after I recovered from my initial shock. Never heard a peep out of CCP. No worries...live and learn I guess. ------------------------- Who? Me? |

Human Cattle is an amazing mission. You get tons of LP's, good standing raises with your agent, and good pay as well. I recently escaped the clutches of caldari lag space, and have been forced into doing some gallente missions. So yes, I was using a harpy for my lvl 2 agents so they would go faster and as a result, Human Cattle was cake to me.
However, on 5of5, all you have to do is kill the frigate that is 3km from you when you warp in. If you read your journal, it simply says to go as far into the complex as you can.. I always keep my 'Read Details' page from my journal open and minimized. Any time there is a change to it , it will reopen to the screen. So when I killed that frigate, it popped up and said Achieved or whatever it says when you do what yer supposed to.
As a side note, I killed all the frigates and cruisers in my harpy while dodging and tanking the dmg from the 15+ battleships including the 2 Jakar's and god only knows how many frigates. Ive got a screenshot of my harpy - it looks like 5 battleships are just blazing the heck out of it.
Then I left, came back in my Raven with a buddy in his Dominix, and we proceeded to blow up all the battleships and sentry guns. The moral of the story ? Yeh, the loot is crap, so dont bother. Nothing dropped from any buildings either.

Did you happen to try going through the acceleration gate that was in the middle of all the battleships and frigates? I have done this once and my GF has done it twice, and each time there is an acceleration gate in the center. I am just wondering if there was anything beyond that point. I am still in a cruiser so I can't go up against the BS yet.

Did Human Cattle Mission Twice in Celestis Before Nerf, solo.
Did it 4 times in Thorax after nerf.. solo.
They weakened the mission a little too much (just my opinion). But outside of my opinion, its about at the right level.
