How about one of your devs run a SQL command and give us a snapshot of what the High Sec Custom Offices overall taxes were for the month of Sept, so the community understands the size of the pie being discussed.
I imagine you have already run that command several times already, given you have been fooling with the tax rates and you would not mess with them without knowing the hard numbers behind it.
So why can't you simply publicize the numbers? Most people viewed Orwell's writings as a warning. The harper regime and the goons treat them as a guidebook. |

I was left in the dark covered in manure once.
That also marked the last time I said to a girl: *sure, Ill try everything once*. BoBwins Law: As a discussion/war between two large nullsec entities grows longer, the probability of one comparing the other to BoB aproaches near certainty. |

I dunno, maybe it's me, but when I read that post I kept getting the feeling that he was barely restraining himself from typing something snide about CCP, null sec, goons or null sec (not a typo there, Dinsdale hates null sec twho times).
I just imagine a "not" conspiracy/hate filled post was hard for him to crank out. Somehow, his sig ("Most people viewed Orwell's writings as a warning. The harper regime and the goons treat them as a guidebook.") tells me everything i need to know about the guy behind the keyboard. |

The conspiracy post is pending; either they give him numbers for him to fit his conspiracy to, or the conspiracy becomes not giving him the numbers. Anyway, Eve needs some Sharknado's. Pi, OTOH, is a kinda fuzzy number. Sorta fades off in the distance, whereever you get tired of calculating. Pie, on the other other hand, is not a number at all. Nor has it sharp pointy edges.

Malbrick did a lot of leg work, far more than I could. And his range was very very large, from 100 billion/month to 2 TRILLION/month, in taxes.
It would be very useful, and dead easy for CCP to simply give the community an aggregate value of the taxes for all of high sec. And as far as you suggesting it is an open game, it is impossible for an individual to nail that number down, especially since one can only estimate how many players utilize a planet, let alone for every planet in high sec.
CCP is the ONLY one who has the current value of the taxes.

You understand that there is no GÇ£pieGÇ¥ here, right? That the tax rate the NPCs charge will not change? That the only pie is what the players themselves create, which will either be small (due to useful and low tax rates so that people use the planet in question) or non-existent (due to uselessly high tax rates so people don't use the planet).
Oh, and last time we got any numbers on the NPC part, it was 700bn a month across all of EVEGǪ so unless players want to tax themselves out of any kind of PI income, the player-created pie will most likely be in the low hundreds GÇö most of which will simply be the margin between the old and new commodity base costs. A truly pitiful sum. GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

mabrick was lazy. he assumes everyone is gonna spend a month training planetary consolidation to 5 and does a flat average of all the planets in hs for his 19 mill/ planet sum.
I've run sums based off kao jaos and grimmashs numbers and the amount of isk per a month will make pocos just not worth it on the vast majority of hs planets. oh and this was before they announced the nerf in prices for p1 to 4 products.
but since all the carebears can't figure this bit of maths out for yourselves ....

Heres a titbit for the 'ohnoes gewns will take everything' crowd
We as an alliance have been concentrating on gathering POCOs in lowsec for the best part of two and a half years, spending massive amounts on gantrys and upgrades, not to mention capital fuel to grind the structures and titan bridges to defend them when they got attacked. Want to know what percentage we managed to get after all that effort and expenditure? Less than 10% and bear in mind this is in lowsec where its way easier to actually project the forces required while still being able to protect them.
Yes Goons are larger than us by an order of magnitude but bear in mind theyre operating in an environment where they cant leverage those numbers anywhere near as well as they can in nullsec. I know goons love to **** with people for lolz and dont really care about money but for the amount of work theyd have to put in in a location they dont normally operate in beyond the gank squads the return compared to something like ramping up freighter ganking or ice interdicting is miniscule.
Note I'm not saying they wont take any at all, obviously thats a dumb idea, just that people are massively overreacting because of one entity that would have to make the biggest logistical effort in the history of EVE for returns which can be best described as miniscule.
And thats something I just dont see happening.

Sorry, but a number that may be the 1 trillion ISK / month range, or higher, well, that is not miniscule. Of course, it could be 500 M/ month. It could be 2 trillion / month.
It cannot be calculated nearly as easily as say, moon goo. The amount of any type of moon is readily counted, (I know that many of the cartels had a precise census of every tech moon, and are now doing the same thing with R64's), but the same cannot be said for PI. It is estimates.
Now, I am sure the null sec cartels have a decent estimate of the value of the PI before they ramp up their campaign, but unless CCP fed them precise numbers, even they don't have a true value. And of course, we know that no one at CCP would collude with the cartels to give them that data.
So it is in the best interest of all, including the cartels, to know the true value of the taxes being diverted to the cartels. Most people viewed Orwell's writings as a warning. The harper regime and the goons treat them as a guidebook. |

You know, a smart person wouldn't be going "Waaagh grr gewns will take ALL highsec planets and leave us with nothing ohhno!"
Said smart person would be thinking "Hmm, what items are bottlenecks for important PI products. Now how many of those planets are out there? Would it be possible to cartel those?"
After that, the smart person would start screwing with the market for the best return on investment when Rubicon drops, and wouldn't be posting conspiracy theories on the forums.
Don't worry miners, I'm here to help!
