Its too easy to run, too easy to hide, too easy to pay no sonsequence for an agrressive action.
So wahts to be done. I hear rumours of cloaking devices, warp trailers and other such malarky.
I'm not saying it should be impossible to run, but it should be at a cost of your ship setup. You shouldnt be able to set your ship up for agression, and yet have a "piece of ****" defence against attack (warping and docking).
I understand also that this will probably backfire on me, as much as it will aid in my current defence of the Venal region. Butit has to change, currently its poor to say the least. Jumpgate had a better pvp system than this!!.

Stop people from warping for 3 minutes after firing their gun is the first idea that springs to mind.

PvP now is alot better after the jumpgate blocking. I dont feel pirates now deserve even more kicking and absolutely NO to 3 minute non-warp after firing.
It is possible to flush rats out fairly easy now and if you want to kill them now you have to have enough people to lock down gates.
Scanner should work better, thats all I want. Scan system and warp to someone, I think that would improve fun for pirate and hunter alike.
No more anti-pirate rules, just an improved scanner for better chasing.

so a Battleship is engaged by a frigate and the BS fires his guns and now 5 buddies in BS's warp in on the frigate's side. The BS now can't flee because they have only been fighting for 1 minute?
Thats a bad idea. Its just creating yet another situation where the attacked player cant open fire on an opponent because it could be a trap. This is bad for PvP. It will make people TOO cautious, will make them run rather then fight. its way more fun to have to try and use modules to hold a superior enemy in the battle then using lame game mechanics exploits to set a trap.
Totally unrealistic from a RP point of view. Players must be allowed to warp away anytime they want. thats what warp disrupters are for.
I do think the idea of warp trailers is decent tho.

you have got to think of it in a "diplomatic" sense if a BS piolt is out numbered after attacking a frigate HE is in charge of his warpdrive so would use it to get away but if he warped to a station they would possibly not allow him to dock as of his aggressive tactics.
its not like u as a piolt would say ahh ive fired now as a punnishment i will not use my warp drive, its stations and the such.
BTW are we getting deployable sensor array's, as could just plonk one down in system then would allow u to warp to hostiles direct this would also stop the lame tactic of "half warps" or haveing a bookmark in the midle of knowhere

As illuminati says, scanning is the key. A module which could be fitted your ship, and some related scanning skills would be cool. Hit the scanner and any ships in the system would be visible to you and anyone in your gang from any range (i.e. like stargates and stations are).
The time taken to scan, and the probability of locating ships would be affected by skills. Counter-modules could be fitted to make your own ship harder to locate (cloaking device?).
Failing that some enhancements to the existing scanner to make it faster and more useful would be nice No signature... yet. |
