Each ship class should have its own special capability and not this special capability should not be exchangeable by a bigger (battle- ) ship. We really need more differences between all ships. e.g.
Battleships, that are still used for mining => make all mining lasers cpu need so high so that only mining barges can fit them.
Coming to logistic ships. You can easily take a battleship and with that you can be like a real logistics ship. This is the wrong way.
This shouldnŠt be allowed. Each ship should have its own unique role within EVE.
e.g. Battleships for fighting and nothing else. And yes please make them good at it. e.g. Logistics ship, give them bonus, give them the ability to have logistics drones + bonus.
Each class should be unique and noone should ever be willing nor should someone ever think about using another ship to replace ship with another - Never.
Is a Covetor Mining Barge meant for fighting ? => No So, why should a battleship be allowed to mine ?
Why should a battleship be nearly be good as a logistics ship ? We have logistics ships for that.
We donŠt need more and more ships, we do need more specialised ships.
CCP, you already started changing ships in mk1, so please keep it on changing the ships stats to get our diversity. So, please keep changing the stats on older ships.

Go away. You basically want to hardwire hi, mid and low slots.
I don't think you trust, in, my, self-righteous suicide. |

No, but I want ti make it less attractive to have certain modules on some ships.

Maybe it's just me, but don't you generally get bonuses to mining on mining ship?
EVE Applets - Every little feature you've ever wanted.. |

Well, of course, each ship should get the bonus it is meant for.
The problem is you could have also e.g. a battleship that is nearly effective: Apocalypse: 8 Miner II, 10 Mining Drone II
look at logistics ships. It needs time to become good. But you can also take a battleship to be as effective in logistics as the logistics ship.
This shouldnŠt be in my opinion.
A logistics ship should really outperform a battleship in terms of logistics at huge amount.

Mining battleships suck, I agree, but other then that I like the fact that you can outfit ships to do different things. Acctually I think ships aren't customizable enough because oftentimes the bonuses make only one type of setup really workable!

have you realised that EVE is a MMO?
This means imersion and freedom are the two highest prioritys to the dev's if you want to mine in a BS go ahead. But if you want to mine in a barge your free to do that to .
Thats what really makes the game of EVE so great the freedom to roam 5000 startsystems and do what ever the hell you want.
I agree that some spealized ships like the Tech II logistics cruisers should be just that specalized. and the nerf bat should swing again at these

I agree that battleships should be less "good at everything" than what they are now.
But the restrictions you suggest are far too extreme. Requiring a barge for mining is outright impossible, and banning logistics from battleships is too arbitrary. -------------------- This solution to BM-related server resource usage can reduce lag with the same interface. |

Edited by: Dorogan Multikill on 23/01/2006 12:20:26 I agree with Noriath. Customization is what makes eve such a great game... definetly the best online game ever because of the fact that you have to use your brain if you want to survive in eve. By giving ships specific roles you are forcing peeps to run the same setups, and limiting there creativity. Only in eve can a cruiser take on a bs, purely because of the setup. KEEP IT LIKE IT IS !!! No need to change somethin thats just fine the way it is.

I agree in part, that some things really don't belong on certain ships, but it should be possible to mess up the ship and put em in anyway, which I think is the idea, but the question is, if I'm stuck in a pod all day, how am I a ships mechanic too?
