[1] I know this is not just me that this happens to, my gf's pc does much the same things. Usually after about an hour the game starts freezing and locking up. It seems to coincide with the "peoples and places" window getting corrupt. In the end the only way to stop it is to quit and re-log in. When i try to reboot or shut down my pc after playing EVE it blue screens (every single time!!) PC specs are : amd xp2100+ : 512mb pc2100 ram : geforce4 ti4600 using windows xp with ALL drivers and updates to the latest spec. As i play lots of games and get very little problems with them (certainly nothing as like this) it seems to me this game is bugged badly. Which is a great shame. Does anyone have any idea's as to what i should do to help this situation ? Or is there a new patch due soon to address these problems ? Thx "I Ping,Therefore I Am" |

[3] Mystif, When your PC blue-screens, what message do you get? In the BSOD text the operating system specifies the reason behind the error. Like for instance nv4disp.dll for nvidia video card driver failures. _________________________________________________________ [email protected] |

[5] The blue screen error goes like this : DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and the Tech info : ***STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x00000000, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xE1A75906) Begining dump of physical memory, etc etc. I could live with this if it wasn't for the other problem i stated in my first post. [7] On the BSOD problem I'd guess it is the problem described in this KB article from Microsoft. When you experience a decrease in game speed, does your computer run out of (physical) memory? Take a look at the Task manager and look at the eve.exe process. Has it allocated much memory? I play in windowed mode and I have noticed that if I minimize the window and restore it again a few seconds later the game seems to deallocate memory. _________________________________________________________ [email protected] |

[11] Well, after a lot of looking at websites and such i've managed to eliminate the BSOD and seem to have increased the time it takes for the game to freeze and slow down. The BSOD was caused by SBlive! sound drivers. I took the SBlive sound card out of my pc rebooted and then removed all related drivers and utils. Rebooted again then logged into EVE, the game appeared to run faster than before. I then shut down my pc and didn't get a blue screen. Put my SBlive card back in and let XP install its own drivers for the card. Ran EVE for about 2 hours before it started to slow down again. As far as i can tell the BSOD is now gone completely but the slow down seems to start when the game gets a bit laggy, my screen does a big lockup and the "peoples and places" window corrupts. Then to get it back to normal i have to quit EVE and relogon. I've had problems before with my SBlive card drivers (i did have the latest drivers installed), so i'm beginning to think its time for a new sound card and probably not a creative one. Thx for the help Jehova, i'll look into that. Hope this helps you a little Burnout. If i get to the bottom of the lockups i'll let you know. "I Ping,Therefore I Am" |

[13] Been reading through the forum and it seems that sound card/drivers are causing a lot of problems for some peeps. Does anyone know how to disable the music (not turn it down or turn off all sounds) in the game? thx "I Ping,Therefore I Am" |

[15] As a once wise sage told me sound cards are the root of all evil. My drivers were off by a version too many different types of AC97 out there. Found the exact version and stopped having this problem aswell, Weird that only eve cared bout it. Hope your new sound card works out. |
