Is anyone else fed up with the sheer number of things that keep screwing up with this once-good game?
Since Red Moon Rising was rolled out the game has sucked. Basic things I want to do have become close to impossible to do. I now often lose ships to faulty missions, general bugs and random resets of my settings. These issues should have been dealt with before the patch was implemented. I know that I can petition when this happens and I have done so each time. Petitioning for replacement of ships is not fun though, and I play for FUN. After filing a petition there's the 1 to 2 week wait for replacement of my ship before I can continue what I was doing.
CCP: Wait, take the time to deal with the problems in testing, then roll out a new patch. Your customers will appreciate this.
I'm dealing with this the best way that I know how. I've asked for my accounts to be suspended for a month to see if the bugs get ironed out and gameplay returns to what it should be. Hopefully it will because I used to really enjoy playing. If not, I'll just find a new game to play that works better.

Edited by: Darius Shakor on 22/01/2006 20:03:48 And yet... since a week after the RMR release I have had one CTD, 2-3 days where it was laggy, lost only one ship on a mission (and that was my fault) and today I had a bugged carco hold capacity readout...
Yes, sheare hell.
Note: I did not include the password hack problem because CCP coulc not have prevented a determined hacker no matter what they try, and they did the right thing when they shut down TQ to protect everyones accounts. The only whiners are those that didn't keep an up to date email on their account or provided a fake one because they are paranoid about spam.
Edit: Ohh yeah as for them supposedly not caring. I wonder why Oveur made this sticky on the GD forum asking for people to provide details on where the lag is and what they were doing so they can spend god knows how long compiling the data and finding the choke points. Linkage ------

EVE is cyclical. EXODUS was utter hell, then mid-year patches where utter hell etc. CCP really need to work on their QA, we where promised better QA because of the***** ups last year, but it certainly doesn't seem to have been implemented. But you have to remember that a lot of people will whine like babies if they don't get new ships constantly. Personally I would rather have had the mk2 project (which is about the best thing to ever happen to EVE) earlier then some of the recent T2 ships (poorly concieved and executed).
I don't think you trust, in, my, self-righteous suicide. |

Sadly, its in human nature to provide us more with critics then compliments...and that will not change in near future.

I like the new the content, features and so on.
There is still ALOT of things to fix, stuff to balance, bugs that needs to be taken a look at.. And the biggest problem of them all: Lag and CTD problems!

Personally, aside from the facts that artillery needs love and also that it's taking me too damned long to train for this dread, I'm massively enjoying RMR. The invulnerability field un-nerf means I can actually fit a scrambler on my raven, and the introduction of javelin torps has given me a method of dealing with smaller ships effectively, though javelins are pretty expensive (javelin mjolnirs, last I checked, were 7000 ISK each).
So, personally, I'm liking RMR. -Wrayeth

I leave for r/l for a while, come back and see this nonsense. Nero you really like pushin' buttons. If I felt that way about ANYTHING, the last thing I'd be doing would be sending money to those who's creation so offends you....but hey, "a fool and his money......"
Nothing in the world is perfect, but for a zillion lines of code being run on processors so complex that it staggers the mind, this game is head an shoulders above any other MMO out there. Not being a fanboi, just stating the obvious. My posts down in the tech forum about linux, emulators, CCP, etc., are anything but 'fan'....but up here, vintage 'whinewithcheese' is standard fare...and its good to see that after r/l time away......some things NEVER CHANGE. lmao.

I rarely lag at all since I moved out of caldari space. I agree that some places are sheer hell to go through, I one time just followed my autopilot through Oursulaert, but that was my own fault.
If you have it that bad, maybe you should just quit for 2 months, and then come back when the new server upgrades has been installed.

I haven't had any problems since RMR other than the usual hub lag. Then again, I haven't been doing missions. Losing a mission ship to lag must suck, considering the sheer amount of ISK people put into.. all named and T2 mods. Oh well. This thread is a rant, CCP vs customers? What kind of a title is that? Maybe it's because I have had the oh so great opportunity to subscribe to some Sony online games and get screwed repeatedly in the butt by them, but I'm pretty sure CCP is the best MMOG company atm when it comes to working on their game instead of riding the bare minimum.

There are some annoying bugs that really need to be addressed - like the chat channel text alignment. I would love it if CCP could prioritize code optimizations and small, but important, bug fixes; while the lag will likely be erased temporarily, by the forthcoming uber YARRRdware panacea.
Nonetheless, I don't see anything threatening my subscription atm. The game is, by and large, much smoother than it was in the couple of weeks following RMR.
Company feedback on bug resolution does suck bigtime though.
CCP fix the chat text alignment bug please. |

Yeah, everything is nice and dandy.
Font is fantastic as it forces me to play less.
Manufacturing&science interface uses hardly any cpu cycles any longer and pushes disgusted manufacturers out of business because it is mostly useless.
Stacking groups for modules match perfectly.
I love the occasional lag spikes making me loose ships. Especially when only one of my accounts is hit.
Faction hits for ship kills are the best idea ever since starting the faction system. Especially the way it has been introduced, err dropped upon us without a hint.
Client changes being good for reduced framerates definately are rated improvements.
Sound system causing problems since EVE started is lots of fun. Especially when you use exotic sound cards like audigy or player life.
The client still cannot be used under VMware, wine, whatnot despite the devs working on it for ages.
50% of the listed patch changes come out as not being implemented, another 30% are still bugged to Jita and back.
I love the way the customer service is working. Most answers come pretty fast, important petitions are answered nearly instantly. The devs are really creative and they occasionally even implement stuff coming from the player base. ccp definately loves its baby. If only the quality of the implemented stuff would be better. Personally I'd prefer patches a quarter of the size of the last few, but with mostly working and usable content instead of being bloated with broken toys. Personally I hate getting my work back for fixing after I did it so I try to deliver it bulletproof instead of to quick.
Go for it. You have shown that you're able to deliver close to perfect results more than once! --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |

The only time I had a problem with lag was with a 100+ fleet, and it amounted to waiting longer then normal to Jump.
What I see is CCP's server is not able to make up for peoples POS computers anymore like before and hence the whinning.
If you cant play either upgrade or quit.

yep, and the new tech2 Ships wont be used by 90% of the playerbase anyway, especially when thy are bugged, useless and increadibly expansive atm.
(force recons are unusable, interdictor spheres have tons of problems, carriers are unusable)

Edited by: Brianis Danemire on 23/01/2006 11:54:26 I have to put my hand up as a wineandcheese person when RMR first came out. But I now put my hand up and give sincere gratz to CCP. I have moved to a new system and it was still laggy. But I stuck with it cos I love the game so much and now the lag is changing. I get the ocassional hicup but for the most part it runs as sweet as a nut. I run two instances on my comp and I hardly get any lag.
I wish I had never wined and dined as CCP are so working on it. Give em some credit for goodness sake. Also dont forget we will have a new kick ass server to play on soon.

So true. I have spewed my share of critique about mainly QA, but all in all I enjoy EVE very much so. The game as a whole does not suck. I rarely have problems, the few petitions I submitted were answered in reasenable time and satisfactory. Occasionally I experience lag in a region/systems, where I normally have no problem with that. So I disagree. Not everything sucks. ost things work fine, and I think that goes for most players.

If you're losing your settings, then it would suggest a corrupt prefs folder - before you blame the client wholeheartedly, consider that there would be an outrage flying around here if there were a bug causing this behaviour.
Have you thought about completely reinstalling EVE, in a different folder - and running Chkdsk or something ?
Since RMR I have had 1 crash, and that was when one of the proxy servers had an issue.
