I imagine that all sites that earn $ commissions from the sale of GTC's are feeling some pinch from SOMER's program that gives a bit more isk per GTC.
CCP appreciates SOMER 'sr Casino's abiltity to loosen $ wallets by it's slightly intoxicating titillation of senses via gamblers psychology. It must result in a net gain in GTC sales for CCP which drops almost entirely to the top line ...as all incremental sales do once fixed costs are covered.
(maybe it is pure clean fun for 75% to 85% plus of participants, but still fun that brings a net gain in GTC sales, other pople might see elements of profit from a human pathological disorder. certainly some profits come from the second even if it is a minority of participants, a that sliver of participants probably contributes at twice the rate of $ per player than their actual numbers of people )
Declaring an in game war against an in-game rival running a meta site making $ off from your members is Yet another interesting wrinkle to the game.. and one, whom the guild leader named after the ancient middle eastern tribe, finds himself in the thick excitement of yet again ! (if reports are true!)
Funny the things that add content to the war-spaceships shooting space ships game we play! (that is a compliment to the leader of the Goony hooligans !) . And , he can also be taking the high road in terms of emotional and financial health in the Meta sense of the real world .... a public real world service against "Demon-gambling" via a declaration of in-game hostilities ! (yes all of you, "but it pays for game time" people , it does pay for game time.. but the game time supplied only costs CCP a $1 or $2 tops in additional variable expenses... some portion of Plex users might have otherwise paid $ but plexed it becaue of "all the extra plex coming to market" .. however, while we might disagree on precisely what percentage it is, my guess is that the majority of plex that come to the open market are used for the funding of second third and fourth and even a dozen extra accounts for peopel who never would have used used $ for those many additional accounts.... one person with 10 exrta acounds takes 10 people forgoinga 15$ fee on their fist account to bring the average of the 11 people to closer 8$ cost for each additional plex entering the market via the approved $ to Gametime to ISK conversion) |

.... it is a very intersting tactic ... and not just one pertaining to external popularity..
For a leader to seem powerful, and for an organized cause to grow and retain an enrgized membership,... there needs to be an enemy to galvanize against !
.... any mega-corp has every reason to "make someone squeak" else atrophy will consume them. (no external motivation is necessary.. even if it is an additional motivation)
