Eve mobile. Another stupid waste of their development time paid for by our subs, at the expense of Eve content. Yay. "In the age of information, ignorance is a choice." |

Is this yet another thread from the way back machine? Linking articles from May? Maybe we can get someone starting a new thread about the playstation 4 coming out.

Correction: Paid by somebody elses sub :) Not mine :)

Android itself is open source, and Android applications are notoriously easy to reverse engineer. You can just open them with any unzipping software, just like a standard Java application .jar.
I can literally take any android app and get a basic idea of how it works in 5 minutes. That may have something to do with the fact that I am a Java developer, but the point still stands. "In the age of information, ignorance is a choice." |

Yea, but who says that they actually plan anything for Android... if the app is too complicated/hardware demanding, it could very well mean it'll only come to iOS... or only to tablets, not mobiles phones... many uncertainties there. Since about half of all eve subscribers are using hardware with roughly the same computing ability as a phone/vita, i suppose it was only a logical step.

LOL either you are one of those apple fanboys or you have no damn clue what you are talking about. Not only is android more easy to develop for over ios most times the htc and samsung phones aka the majority of Android devices are more than capable of running the program on the hardware end of things. The specs for every apple product minus the 5S has been completed ****. I have been running duel to quad core processors in my phone for years. Hell my samsung phone is prob faster than your pc. |

As a professional mobile developer let me tell you that both iOS and Android systems have their own difficulties when developing for. This is compounded by the fact that often you want feature parity between your apps, and so concessions need to be made on both sides.
Android does offer additional flexibility in a lot of ways, iOS provides more tools for visual layout and transitions. Although for this sort of thing I can't imagine anything getting in the way of developing tools for either, as seen by the fact that there are quality apps already in existence for both.
I would much rather see the tools to build these apps provided to the community that has already brought us apps such as Aura. If they do have their own app, perhaps it would be to allow access to things you don't want to expose to a public API. For example, if you expose the market order management to the API people could develop bot switching of orders very easily. If they reserve that sort of functionality to their own app, then they can ensure it isn't misused.
Side note: Aura is awesome, Marcel is awesome. Come join us and fly with the creator :D Aideron Robotics is hiring for the Gallente Federation war effort! https://www.aideronrobotics.com/wiki/Applying |
