Hi:
How the devil do I find the agent missions? And what are the big corporations that have relatively easy missions with which I can build up? (I have a 40K ship, I mostly do mining now, but I only make 10K/run..."
Open to suggestions,

You find them in every station. When docked, on your right, you see the tabs agents - guests - Offices. Click agents.
Right click on one of them and start conversation.
You have to start with LvL1 agents. In order to find those:
Top right, you see the blue "i" (info) button > click > tab: agents> chose an agent and fly to that location. Watch out for agents in low sec space when new to this game.
You have different types of missions: they all come down to Npc-ing, mining or transporting (hauling).
You also have different types of NPC stations. Chose a big one! with lots of agents and lots of agents to progress to.
It's been a while since I've ran agents... But if you're going to run missions and mine or transport cargo for your agent. you're better off to just stay mining for your own. It's very time consuming. If you want to shoot the Npc-pirates, then I suggest to start missioning.

Patience fella. What I can suggest is join a player corporation for one. Learn how to tin-mine. Get a Hauler (cargo ship). 500K/ 2 hours within a week of training skills. I'm sure ever descent player corporation will be happy to teach you that.

People and Places/Search Corporation/your race's navy (Amarr--Amarr Navy, Caldari--Caldari Navy, Gallente--Federation Navy, Minmatar--Republic Fleet)/show info/agents tab/security, surveillance, command, or internal security. Pick one. Get connections level 3.

I couldnt find any after I did the tutorial but then I found a easy ish way.
if you go to "my character" > Standings
you should have a list of corporations that "like you" you can right click on them and get "more info" on the window that pops up you will get a list of agents who like you enough to give you missions.
you can even right click on them and set a way point to fly straight to them.
