In Eifer on Sunday (yesterday) there was a pirate sniping at ships coming from Emol into Eifer.
About 21 Frigates gathered in a gang and went after the fellow. He must be have been at least a little worried (even though I doubt he was ever in any real danger) because it wasn't too long before two of his friends showed up (same corp): All three in that wonderfull flashing red.
The reason I doubt that he was ever in any real danger because I'm pretty sure that none the newbie frigates had anyway of keeping him from choosing when to fight. In other words, he could run away recharge his shields and armor, then come back for more.
I'm just curious if anyone has information about the final outcome.

Oh god that would have been hilarious to see. But just because they were in frigates doesn't mean they were all newbs, one or two could have actually had scramblers fitted and kept him from running :P Funny quotes:

If I remember correctly, wasn't there a Borg corp that did this? All their members were named 3 of 5, and 4 of 7 and stuff like that, and they all used newbie frigates to swarm people.
Pretty sure this has been done before. Still damn hilarious, though.

Edited by: Moadib Johnson on 23/01/2006 23:32:57 Yes Moadib Johnson struck many a fearsome blow with his Civilian Gatling autocannon. Many brave newbs lost their ships that day.
The Brave and Honourable pirates including Cypherous initailly fled in the face of such a dangerous fleet of 1 day old characters. They showed their enemy plenty of respect, refusing to launch their battleships into a toe to toe fight against the newb ships without scramblers, rather choosing to warp in and out of various sniper positions around the gate, to vanquish many of their mighty foe.
Eventually the superior pirate tactics overcame the small but hardy anti-pirate fleet, after several warp outs for each battleship, and 20-30 minutes. The pirates then proceeded to boast in local about their numerous glorious podkills, and i talked smack with them for about 20 mins before leaving thoroughly satisfied.

One of my first corps, a coalition of newbs, tried this with a mildly experienced FC and failed spectacularly with 9 t1 frigs vs a cyclone.
I think now that 9 experienced pvp pilots could have done it on the same cash - it's really a fitting/orders thing, and knowing what to expect.

(my memory isn't what it used to be so I'm sure I'm fudging some facts but here goes)
Way back near release time, m00 corp (the dreaded cow pirate syndicate LOL), had blockaded some pretty high sec caldari systems.
The m00 blockades became a serious problem, and in one instance a bunch of carebears and the like staged a massive counter attack, the fllet also consisted mainly of newb ships and other assorted disposables. Back then only a handful of corps had BS's that where really operational in a PVP sense (nobody really had the time yet to train BS very far, let alone the cash). so the best either side I think had was cruisers...
The outcome was quite similar...
These events caused CCP to stage what to my knowledge was the very first use of GM power in a RP manner to deal with players harming game play (as m00 was for the most part doing only what CCP had made possible, and in fact playing to the setting of eve in thier own way, ccp couldn't just ban em all for causing such mayhem, as that would have been a real mistake IMHO, and what they did do was somehow very satisfying LOL).
They sent in "The Four" Which was from what I recall a couple of GM's in uber pretty much unkillable ships which decemated the m00 forces causing them to finaly withdraw (at least for a time) from high sec camping.
no matter when it happens it's entertaining though.
As for newb ships not being a threat? I dunno, the level 2 version of the technical secrets mission (part three) is enough to ***** even a well tanked BS's defenses even without the cruisers, unless the BS pilot carefully plans thier appraoch etc.
I would fathom that a serious number of well enoudh fitted newb ships (say each having scramblers, and high alpha strike weaponry), could easily take down a sniper BS (Usualy not very very heavily tanked, just enough to survive the gate guns usualy as a lot of the lows and such are used for tracking and range mods if I can recall). Problem is getting a rag tag fleet of strangers to function well in such a complex disposable fleet of 50+ is hard. Even when they are all told to be zerging, you have to have them ALL arrive on the scene at the right time, in the right place...
1 covert in the gang to get the entire fleet to warp right into scramble range, with enough newbs tackling and enough damaging though should have done the trick... 50ish I'd say just might do it... Course they'd need more than civ guns and scramble I'm sure to really succeed. :)

Another reason why new players should not go into low security areas. If there was even a battlecruiser in that group of players they would probably have had some chance. I bet you though that at least one of those frigates had a warp jammer but didnt have enough power to stop a battleship. I would pay to see a clip of that (must have been kind of like lemmings leap?)

Excuse me? I am doing lvl2 missions and my tactic at the Technical Secrets 3/3 is mostly just to agravate them all and let them circle around me and blow them up. I usually ctrl+space to stop my ship. Don't have to loot from so far. I'm talking about Caracal. Unhardened shields. 4 million SP, of which half in learning skills.
So WTF are you talking about that mission being dangerous for BS?

If I had a jumpclone ready, there would have been a Battle Cruiser and a Battleship there backing up the newbs. The Destruction of your ship is usually preceeded by the thought,"I think I will try somthing a little different this time...." |

They didn't need a battleship. They just needed a little organization.
