Just a quick question for all those inhabiting regions of mimatar soverignty, in systems with security status 0.7-0.5 have they seen omber roids in these systems security rating is very important.

not recently. The belts I used to mine all seem to be depleted so I have pretty much given up mining.

Yes, I often see Omber in 0.5 - 0.7 in Heimatar. You have to be quick before the macro miners strip it all out though. I'm yet another former miner that has had to resort to mission running to make a kred since thoses locusts turned up in force.

Didn't realise it was that extensive in mimatar space, i've been doing roid belt surveys of late and i've only seen one or two systems stripped like most of hemitars. Kinda sucks

It has been a few weeks since I even looked at a belt now so my info may be out of date. When I was last mining I would routinely see macro miners stripping Omber and moving on. You don't see a lot of belts picked to the bone anymore but Omber has been getting scarce out there. I petitioned them until I was blue in the face but it changes nothing.
Plenty of omber being sold at decent prices though so produstion is still going although some of the margins on T1 are getting tight.

im not a macro miner i just took the time to learn when it spawns and im usually in there b4 any macros arrive the strain on omber has been made worse by the state of the pirate infestation in minmatar space
i guess you could call me a locust cause i will strip out entire systems if i got enough time but sinse i cant mine better ore in low sec round here any more im forced to fall back on omber and its very much first come first served
learn when it spawns, where it spawns, and be ready for it when the main systems are mined clean go looking for systems with no stations and often you will find omber that can be easily exploited by mining with a friend

yeah its not fair really and particularly hard on newer miners but what can you do ? as those above you push you out so you must take from those below to survive
harsh universe out there

Supply & Demand
There is only so much ore to go around. If Omber never vanished then it wouldn't be worth as much... it would be like Veldspar. Maybe you can't find any Omber anywhere near civilized space... so you have to go out further to find it. Well, as long as your going out further to find it you might as well go for the more expensive ores.
I think the safty and ease of sale in Empire space has kept the power miners in the same places the n00b miners would like to mine. With certain skills very easy to train up relatively fast you get people in barges mining out entire belts before the new players even see the ore.
Then there are the macro miners. I personally try to mess with macro miners any time I see them. You can usually recognize them by their names full of messed up characters like "nkdkslgkah" and such, though some macro miners actually name thier macros realistic sounding names.
I say, go steel ore from the macros and give those cheet'n types hell! If they attack you, blow up their ships! This leaves more ore for the rest of us who like to mine ligit.. as well as you get ore from the macro that you would have mined anyway.
As for there still being a short supply, the older miners need to grow some bigger thrusters and start venturing out where the better ore is... however for that it takes more organized groups and most people just don't have that kind of teamwork mentality.

I don't live out that way all the time but as Omber doesn't exist where I am - I'll go over every few months to resupply. The last period was December, yes the popular systems are being stripped quicker I noticed but as in the rest of the universe the populations are rising, so not a great suprise. I, like some of the other replies, have spent time skilling hard in mining/refining even tho I am not an industrialist, so I don't go out in a cruiser or BS, when I go out to mine I do just that, with a coveter plus Iteron 5 for hauling and put a good few hours in each day if RL can afford it. That is how belts get stripped, that's how mining occurs on planet Earth or so I hear, find it, assess it, dig it all if economical and move on. My 'old areas' had become omber useless due to the new corps founded there so I went searching and came up others to farm - a bit more work - maybe harder rats but still in secure space. Like I said, Omber doesn't occur where I live, consider yourselves lucky (or sensible?). Happy digging.

it *is* hard to find Omber more than 2 hours after Downtime in Heimatar or Molden Heath or Metropolis.
But if it's Isogen you're after, there's a few high-sec systems in Derelik with Kernite. Pyroxeres there also provides nice Nocxium.
Of course, even those aren't what they used to be. Too many new miners, too few new roids.
Fly not too far to find your rocks of choice,

[Edit: Pyroxeres gives no Isogen sorry]

somewhat of an exageration there usually the easy to find local omber will be gone in around 24 hours then you pick up the second weekly spawn and again it lasts around 24 hours there are systems where there are so many belts it would take a serious and large mining gang to strip in anything less than, like, 10 hours straight mining
but.. once these main systems are stripped out you can still find omber if you take the time to search for it 2 or even 3 days after the obvious rocks are gone you can find systems that are completely untouched

No, that's Omber Zombie. To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield. |

The L4 vengeance has a tough boss with no loot, but there are three nice omber pebbles floating around.
With 2 battleships for fighting and a retriever and a scythe, you can even finish the omber and the mission within the time bonus for maximum effect.
You'll even be visited by your local pirats for entertainment. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |
