Pod and Planet Fiction Contest YC115 Prize pool is 101(!) PLEX in prizes. New writers and writers returning from last year, the details are in the link. It's pretty much like last year's contest-- an EVE canon-based category, a freeform/ingame player works category. This year there's also an additional section for humor.
Sponsoring the prizes: -Somer Blink (100 PLEX) -High Drag - an EVE Online podcast (1 PLEX) Thank you generous sponsors! Plenty of rewards and incentive for writers. If anybody else wants to sponsor, let me know. (You'll transfer your donation directly to the prize winner-- no tinfoil needed).
Judges: -CCP Eterne -CCP Falcon -CSM member Mike Azariah -myself
Deadline for submissions is November 10, 2013. Check the link for contest rules and start writing, guys. Let's see some more quality stuff like last year. o7 |

Sounds like fun. I'll give it a go!
Worst that can happen is it absolutely sucks Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person." |

I wonder how many Scorpions Ishukone Watch were sold to sponsor this. It's a good contest, don't get me wrong. It just would be nice if there was a wider mix of sponsors from all over the Eve community. See Bio for isk doubling rules. -áIf you didn't read bio, chances are you helped fund those who did. |

Indeed indeed. But last time we had a lot of people saying, "I've never written anything before, sorry for the bad stuff, WTH I'm going to submit it." More than a few of those placed in the top tier. Just saying, and not b.s.-ing. |

When he opened the door, he could not believe who was standing there before him. Every Jovian child knew the stories. But could it really be James 315 standing there?

More sponsors needed! This time I just mailed a few sponsors from last year, and didn't do a full "grant-writing" project. Is there a place to post "Doing an event, need donations?" Might be, but: -This is a timed contest, so couldn't tip our hand and let some writers get a head start; and -"Doing an event, need donations" sounds like the kind of thing that could draw trolls and controversy and sour the entire gathering. Don't need politics in a writing event, need freedom to write.
But-- Yes, more sponsors welcome and needed! Give some ISK and make somebody who works hard feel appreciated! Again, anything you donate, you'll transfer directly to the winner. No possible means of being scammed. "Give 'til it hurts." |

Considering throwing a couple plex into it. But the whole Somer fiasco going on right now may scare other sponsors away from sponsoring the same event. You could come up with another event that is separate and has more widespread sponsorship. I can think of a few people who would likely help sponsor a worthy cause. Considering how much isk you probably have, why don't you donate a few plex's :)
Maybe speak to Chribba to see if would be willing to act as a go between and then get people in general to donate what ever they can.
I would be more then happy to throw a plex towards this. |

Alternatively I have a script for the upcoming EVE Tellybox show that holds true to the true nature of EVE:
Commander, the enemy fleet is broadcasting on all local frequencies...
What are they saying, Ensign?
They seem to be calling us pubbie-shitlord-faggots. They are questioning the commitment of our jews...
Such Insolence! Remind the Captains to refrain from broadcasting people having sexytimes, and prepare to blueball them.

The skies were gray as Seagull walked into the office, Rise's beautiful face greeting her. She had always loved him, but only as a friend.
"Hey Rise" she says. A 'sup' is the reply. As their conversation begins a commotion occurs. Delivery men loudly enter the foyer, crate in hand. They manhandle their package, occupying all of Rise's attention. Until Fozzie saunters past.
Fozzie, with his bedroom-eyes look, coyly glances at Rise. Rise is caught off guard. "Uhg, what's in the crate, Fozzie?" It's obvious cover, but it's the best he can do. Fozzie pauses, the chemistry between them overcoming him.
Sensing the tension Seagull chimes in: "That's the T20 cage. What with Navigators behavior of late we felt it prudent to un-mothball it."
Yes? No? Maybe? I'd like some feedback before I commit to this. |

The fiction contest is an entirely separate event, put together by an individual player (myself). Somer Blink is just one of the prize donors. I call all of the donors "sponsors," but their only input is to distribute prizes to the winners at the end.
If people want to donate prizes, here how it works: -You can donate any ISK amount. 1bil ISK, 50mil ISK, any amount is good. Our writers are needy, they can be persuaded to accept any extra amount of ISK. The donation doesn't have to be in PLEX form. You could also donate a ship or ingame item. Figuring out how to award an item prize is a little trickier, but we can work it out. -Donors and the amount donated are listed and linked on the contest announcement/rules page. -I suppose we'll have to ask someone to hold donations in escrow. Ideally donors would just transfer the prize directly to a winner at the end of the contest. But due to the risk of trolling (pledging a donation, but not delivering it in the end), we'd better have them deposit donations with a third party.
(BTW, for last year's contest, I asked Somer for about 1bil for prizes. When they saw that devs would be judging and it was a legit contest, they gave me the 1bil, plus 9bil more. No conditions, just an outright gift to the writer. Just mentioning that for the record).
Anyway, if you'd like to donate, just send me a mail and we'll work it out. o7
