I'm a pretty new player, only been playing 2 months. My corp just moved to a rather hostile area, and are at war with another group. Where I was before I was enjoying mining, ratting, running missions. I just can't have fun down here if I'm always having to watch my back. I'm thinking about moving back to my old area...maybe even leaving my corp so I'm not attacked by association. They seem like a bunch of nice guys...but I simply can't afford to replace ships lost to this war of theirs. I lost a battlecruiser today after only having it about 3 hours and can't afford a new one.
I just feel kind of stuck at the moment...any advice?

For starters, insure your ships. second, if youre corp doesnt help provide ANY funds for lost ships, theyre not the greatest corp. third, train combat skills, learn how to fit your ship msot effictivley. fourth, if you really wanna avoid combat, warp away if trouble arrives, and while warping make a safespot and when you leave warp go to it. im not as old as you in the game but i know that being overpowered sucks.
if youre combat skills/module skills are too low, keep an escort with you always and mine. if the corp is a good corp they should be willing to have a hauler and an escort avaiable for helping you mine. they should also help you decide how to fit your ship effictivley, such as for stealth, tanking, SoS (shields of ships), etc.

I was in a very similar situation a while back. My advice is: If you really like your corp now, stick with it. You'll lose lots of cash now, but it's only cash. It can be earned back. And the experience you'll learn (about keeping yourself safe and stuff) is amazing.
Ofcourse the time now isn't that nice, but it'll pull straight again. Just stick with the corp, and you'll make some really good friends in it too. The best friends are made in time of need.

however.
this is a game, you play it for fun if you can't have fun with a corp at war, try moving back to your old area, there are a LOT of corps out there that you can join. Doesn't mean you have to fall out with the guys in the corp you're at now

In my opinion use these skills to pay for your corps perticipation in war (just my opinion take it for what its worth).
About mining, ratting, and running missions, you can try doing them in a group. MIning and Ratting (in complexes) is definatly possible. I have done missions with other poeple before but usually they turn out to be fairly easy and you would have to split the already meager pay.

But, I don't want to warp anywhere....lol I just want to go rat hunting without having to watch my back the whole time. When I was caught today I was warp scrambled right off the bat (even though I had a stablizer) and never had a chance to run. But, running is the problem. I can't play this game the way I want to if I'm always running from someone and sitting in a port staring at the screen instead of out doing stuff.
One guy did donate money to me after I lost my ship...very nice of him, but still can't afford a new one. Plus, not even sure if I could get one and even get it back safely. They can't seem to protect us. Which seems really odd to me since there are only two ways into this area. Hell, I had to go 40 jumps away just to find my ship...no market down here.

If you're not having fun then leave asap.. there is no shame in it. There are players that like the costant pressure of watching ones back and danger beyond every jump, and there are those that don't. You could just go back to empire and run missions for a couple of weeks, then come back or something. Oh and as far combat loses go.. your corp should be able to replace at least t1 frigates for no charge, usually t1 cruisers as well. That's kind of pre-requisite for daily PvP engagement that don't allow you to earn things on your own.

Yeah, I'm not having fun. Thanks for the advice everyone...think I'm bugging out. Just hope I can even make it out of here in one piece. Everything I have left is loaded up on this industrial...sure would suck to get killed on the way out of Dodge.
