Short story of the most fun night I've had yet. Names withheld to protect the innocent.
So, I'm out hunting in low sec, and the night is going pretty slowly so far. The systems between Tama and Hysera are even more dead than usual. I pop over to Pakkonen and nail an unsuspecting barge, for the small purse of a couple of strip miners; other than that, I'm basically bored.
Suddenly, the call goes out on noob corp chat - a more enterprising member (I'll call him SWA Champion) has encountered a pair of dastardly pirates and is forming a lynch mob! What could liven up my night more than the thrill of a good chase with my fellow newbies!
..I think you all know the answer.
Convo invite sent to Ebil Piewat1.
I'm a good few jumps away from the showdown, fortunately the SWA Fleet is taking a while to gather so we have plenty of time to set up the impending massacre. Oddly, the SWA fleet is feeling confident and starts turning help away when the odds are just 4 vs 2 in their favour. Well, perhaps 5 vs 2 in their eyes (counting me) but in reality 4 vs 3.
Finally, the stage is set for the fight; the SWA fleet of 1 Ferox, 1 Omen, 1 Moa and 1 Merlin is gathered in a belt in Enderailen. The Pirate fleet is Ebil Piewat1 in a Rupture, Ebil Piewat2 in a Caracal and me in a Rifter. Ebil Piewat1 gives the call to warp in, and it's on!
We come out of warp a good 30-40km away, not a great start for me in my Rifter, but I close the range quickly. The Merlin is our primary just in case he's fitted for tackling, so I lock him and his shields evaporate in seconds. The first volley comes in from our cruisers and he's toast. The SWA's big guns have been pounding Ebil Piewat2 and his Caracal is forced to warp out, as is the SWA's Moa shortly after. The Ferox is now going toe-to-toe with our Rupture, who is well tanked. The Ferox is not. Not wanting SWA Champion in his Omen to swing the battle in their favour (or get away alive), I quickly tackle him and begin stripping his shields. Our Caracal warps back in, along with their Moa. The Moa goes down like a two dollar hooker and the Ferox is quickly overpowered and popped. Meanwhile I'm halfway through SWA Champion's armor and he's going nowhere, giving us infinite time to turn him into goo. SWA lynch mob 0 - Pirates 4.
All in all a very fun encounter, and huge respect and props go out to my brave State War Academy comrades, who fought hard and were excellent sports about the whole thing. Their attitude in defeat was a shining example to everyone.
And the lesson they didn't teach in the tutorial? TRUST NO-ONE. -------------------------------------------------- - Suhadi |

So... yay you killed noobs by being a turncoat and are gloating that these guys died because they attempted to fight back rather than whine on the forums.

Certainly not gloating, in my view it was a good fight and all were in good spirits afterwards. As stated, I was impressed by the stand they made against us. As for me being a turncoat, noob corps are not like other corps as far as loyalty is concerned, it isn't the first time I've fought members of the corp nor is it the first time I've discussed my forays into pirating on corp chat.
If anyone involved has a grievance with the battle, I'll be glad to discuss their issues in a non-violent manner.
P.S. Being a newbie myself, I don't feel I'm a bad person for killing other newbies. -------------------------------------------------- - Suhadi |

<chuckles> SWA Champion? Nice touch, Suhadi - I suppose I had that coming. All in all, it was a good fight... Too bad that Moa pilot was even more inept than I was :P
As to Ralus, don't worry about it mate - It was all in good sport. Besides, I think we both know that we, the newbies, were going to get our asses kicked.
Cheers mates, and watch out for yourself, Suhadi... I won't ALWAYS be a moron when it comes to Player vs Player

Bl4zer, when you grow up and accept that people can use the game mechanics to their fullest ability, then you too will see how you can improve your PvP capability.
The limitation of being unable to wardec on someone for empire war is balanced by your inability to war dec on them. A legitimate balance with legitimate gate mechanics. I'd say he is smarter than you, or using your logic older, because he's using a method that you can't counter. So save the insults for teamspeak.

While the story is good and props to both sides for being sporting, tricking n00bs into a fight they can't win is... cowardly, at best.

On the bright side, I encourage this kind of behaviour from starter corporations. I know Republic Military School do similar ops almost every weekend, the lemmings even had the balls to try their luck at clearing South West Heimatar not long ago. Don't remember how it ended though.
Power to the newbies.

What makes you think I'd join a corp that required to be war decced before I could be killed?

Actually, they could have won this, if they had scrambled leylla's caracal Thank you Suhadi for the warning and the help, thank you cernic for putting up a good fight !

I could not agree more though, armed with the knowledge taken from this fight, a rematch could easily turn out a very, very different result. -------------------------------------------------- - Suhadi |

Good fun story, where I couldn't help but root for Suhadi the plucky young pirate.
I really don't care if this was cowardly, underhand or what, the big plus point for me is rather than just run from the pirates or join up with a much larger force to go and overwhelm the pirates, Suhadi took a much riskier route despite being a relatively new player (I assume as he's still in SWA).
I look forward to more like this.

Maybe cowardly, definitely underhand, risky? Heh, not knowing Swiftness or Leylla from the proverbial Adam, I fully expected to be squished along with the others at any moment. It would have served me right, I guess.
On the plus side, life has become much more interesting for me as a result, since I now have my very own shiny !!WANTED!! badge on my picture! -------------------------------------------------- - Suhadi |

The important thing is that you did it. You didn't let your relative newness to the game stop you from getting stuck in to a PvP fight and you took the side of the underdog as well.
Much Kudos to you. Enjoy your wanted badge.

Nice to see the SWA people willing to put their ships on the line and giving it a go.
Looking at the ships involved they had a pretty good chance of victory, even with the dastardly traitor
The RMS (minny newbies) don't go in much for pvp... I occasionaly go to ammold, grab a newbieship with some civilian mods and offer a duel, sec-hit+concord-free (drop a can of stuff, let them take it, fire 1 shot so that they can fire back, engage), to any 1 or 2 of them that want to give pvp a try, if they give it a try, I give them some frigate guns and mods, if they win, they get a free frigate of their choice... only about 1 person per hour wants to give it a try, in a system with 70 people or so. Half the time someone (not always a newbie) nicks the can I put out with the prizes in without even waiting around to let my poor little reaper shoot at them ------------

I was a great fight like Swiftness said , SWA should have scrambled my caracal and won the fight. But the rupture was a good tank, i warped too fast in the belt so i ve been the first target. and everybody now how a caracal is good at tanking other pvp ships ! It was a FUN and Fair fight ! sure you are a traitor Suhadi but you have done well by helping this fight happen ! And a rare time people kicked dont smack talk in Local channel . Hey "SWA combat fleet" , dont forget us , it will be a pleasure to meet ya again YARRRRR

He can't war dec the rookie corporation. The rookie corporation can't war dec him. Balanced nerfs.
Can you imagine if you were allowed to dec rookie corps? Even if most of them were rookies, nothing like a 200+ velator blob to make you a bit unsure of your ship's saftey. --------------
