You do not need a SSD for Eve. This is not advice for your rig or setup, but in regards to Eve as an application.
And since you had to ask, I would caution about choosing a SSD unless you are in the practice of buying refurbished ones every few months (I do) because SSDs deteriorate over time.
If you want a decent rig that is going to support your games for a good amount of time, just get a decent 500gb hard drive with like 10k RPM and slave a 3TB drive to it for storage.
Way lower maintenance. This post has been signed by Murk Paradox and no other accounts, alternate or otherwise. If you can afford it and aren't killing your space available too much by swapping to a SSD, go for it. What load times? I`m playing on a 55rpm that's a slow HD drive. The only load time I have is when I run the game and login. That's the only "load time" I have. So is it word to use It on a SSD??? . The question is? Will this speed up the loading in game (docking undocking jumping) the answer is no. um... it'll speed up jumping, undocking and bridging because even if you don't realise it they all have load times, it wont be by much we're talking seconds but it is faster on an SSD for sure. |

Personally, I mainly use a very basic laptop with integrated video and I can still run multiple clients. Not well mind you. But I'm sure the next computers I get will all have ssd's. Even if it doesn't improve your performance for what you use it for right now, if you have the money and it may make sense within the expected time you will use the computer, why not? For PC's, I usually get something where you get the best bang for the buck- looking for best performance without paying ridiculous prices. Then I keep it longer than average, maybe upgrading the video card once before eventually gifting it to a friend or family member who needs a computer but can't afford one.
The problem with that ideology is the same for people who buy premium vehicles and do not understand the importance of taking that vehicle to the dealership to pay for a $100 oil change as opposed to going to walmart and getting a $20 oil change.

In case it hasn't been mentioned yet...
You can setup a SSD partition to be used for a drive cache. Fast access for stuff used a lot, and the benefits of mass storage of a platter drive.

What are you talking about...SSD do not improve game performance...They improve load times yes, but not performance...That's common sense...
If you do see any kind of performance, its so minor you wont even notice. C'mon people, really??
The only thing they noticeably improve is loading times. Any game play performance that you do see is so minor, it doesnt even matter.
I have Skyrim on my HHD drive AND my SSD and I dont notice any increase in performance from one over the other. The only thing I notice is that it loads much faster on the SSD drive.
You guys are high or some **** to think that SSD's boost gaming performance in any meaningful way...get that **** outta here. You MIGHT get lucky and get a 1% boost, but thats it. Well, let me go and sell my GPU's for a top of the line SSD...that will improve my performance, no?
SSD's do not provide any meaningful boost to your gaming experience...thatGÇÖs common knowledge. It's so negligible as to be almost non existent
The only other part that has any meaningful effect on game performance other than the GPU is the CPU, but even still, for a gaming PC
1. Graphics Card 2. CPU 3. Everything else
SSD will not provide any meaningful boost to the performance of your game, ie frame rate- they WILL decrease any load times in your game. "The American Government indoctrination system known as public education has been relentlessly churning out socialists for over 20 years". - TravisWB |

Will it make a difference? Sure.
Will it make a big difference? Not really.
At least I didn't see much difference when I last cleaned up my system and moved everything but the OS and a few select programs off the SSD.
Your mileage may differ.

Actually, RAM has too, as there is no software out there that doesn't suffer from cache misses.
This means that faster RAM leads to higher performace.
Anyhow, completely irrelevant to what i wanted to write.
You two are having this discussion, because "performance" means different things for you. Instead of bitching around at each other, you should be clearing up your misunderstandings. |

This. It's why I use recycled SSDs. Way cheaper, and page file deterioration is easily handled while still getting the file system responsiveness than you need to load applications. I'll buy a used car. I'll by a second hand pair of jeans. Previously owned house, even.
But, good grief, if you can't shell out for a new drive, the thing that holds every bit of your important data as well as your OS and settings, then you need to give your head a shake.
Buying refurbished storage is just dumb. Especially as it's one of the most inexpensive components in your system.

My two cents: I moved my EVE installation to my SSD (OS is on the HDD -- The SSD is 30GB so too small for the OS). Everything is only slightly faster. The biggest difference I've REALLY noticed is when we get new patches That junk gets patched at lightning speed! |

As for what components affect gaming experience I would place things in this order:
