Now, as a hunter primarily I get a loot of loot that isnÆt on the market. Often, I have to sell this via the trade channel which has unpredictable results.
What I think will add something big to the game is to have in-station shops. People would rent shop space similar to offices. The shop space would be very similar to corp hangers (you would have different departments). Visitors to the station could browse the goodies you have in stock.
It could go like this:
Where you have the offices listed down the right, you could also have a button for shops and have them listed in the same way. Instead of a æJoin corpÆ button you would have æView shopÆ button. This would open in effect a view only corp style hanger. Browsing through the departments you see something you want so you right-click it and you get presented with two options.
1.Buy Item. This brings up an order dialog box (the same as on the market). Once you have filled it in the goods are transferred from the shop to the new ownerÆs hanger.
2.Make Offer. This option is perhaps more difficult to implement, but the player would get a similar dialog to the market one again (but the sellers on this time). This would allow him to say what price he wants to buy for and the quantity. An email is then sent to the shop owner and an order placed in the wallet. If the player decides to accept the order they right-click it in their wallet and the transfer of money/goods takes place. The owner does not have to be in-station at the time.
I think introducing the shops like above would be brilliant. They give station visitors something to do, encourage them to go further out to buy stuff closer to where the hunting takes place. It also uses in-game mechanics/graphics which are already in place.
You would also encourage marco/regional economics which are currently lacking due to the superhighway. People impulse buy and this method of trading encourages it.
Any thoughts?

great idea, but wouldn't it ruin the player contact when you sell your loot. I mean i like to negaciate the thing and meet ppl form diferent corps.

Edited by: Flarin on 27/08/2003 12:07:42 Shops are a nice idea... but with such a huge universe it's fairly unlikely people who want to buy your items will come across your shop.. unless you have adverts and such (maybe on billboards ).
Surely it would be easier to have all items listed in the market? Am i missing the reason (other than having more items to scroll through) for all items not to be listed in the market?

Thanks for your feedback, thereÆs always something else to consider no matter how hard you think about an idea!
Yes you are both right but one of the beauties of this game is allowing for some things to be done in multiple ways. Negotiation is great but I canÆt be in the trade channel all the time. Also, IÆm forever hopping around to different stations getting stuff that I have bought on the market. WouldnÆt it be good to simply check out some other goods whilst there?
It also means that whilst I am not in the trade channel, the stuff I canÆt sell on the market is in a way up for sale. My loot can earn me money with out me being there! This would also have the effect of encouraging me to hunt in deeper space for greater periods as I know I do not have to jump 40 systems just to come back to sell some æScoutsÆ.
Tell me if IÆm wrong but a lot of stuff isnÆt meant to be on the market yet. There will always be loot which isnÆt on the market because the equipment you get is not standard and can only be bought and sold through less conventional methods.
BTW I like the idea about the billboards

I think this is an excellent idea!
Originally I expected that this sort of feature would be eventually available when there are player-built stations --> but this is an even better idea. It will actually give insentive to visit all of the different stations in a particular region to scope out different goods people have. The trade channel is way to annoying to do anything on it, I usually end up just hoarding all my loot for potential future use.
Another good aspect of this system is that it won't be too hard to find the things you're looking for in terms of pirate modified items. Ie. Everyone knows that Angel's drop projectiles, Sansha's drop lasers, etc.. If you need a particular group of items, you know which region to go and scope out stations!

Great idea, I really hope they add it to the game soon. I too have to spend a LOT of time in Trade channel trying to sell rare loot, and at the same time it sets me back because I should be out there hunting and getting more loot!
A nice side-panel to the shop would be in-game auctions on items. ______________

I like this idea too, I'm a solo player and just recycle my loot! Perhaps there should be a region Co-op? You belong to it but not in the same way as you do a corp, AND, you can only be a member of this co-op if your corp has less than say 10 members?
A bit like the wine co-op's in the south of france....
What do people think?
