I have placed a new version up for download.
This one has a few new features including a Point 2 Point search I am rather fond of.
Make sure to read the README.TXT for more information.
Please be open with your comments, I would hate to think my efforts are unappreciated :)
BTW, it an executable file, so please take all precautions needed. I know it was safe at the moment I zipped it, but I can't speak for after that of course.

Edited by: DukDodgerz on 26/01/2006 01:36:46 oh yes, another third party tool to risk a keylogger trojan on, how about some new virus to steal passwords..oh wow, some people just don't get it!!
...if you don't get the point, there is a big issue right now with accounts being hacked and c.r.a.c.k.e.d. Third party "tools" are one avenue of attack these criminals use.
While your tool may be "ok" it is not advised that ANYONE download it and if they have, wipe it off the system and scan the PC with what ever antivirus/trojan/mal-ware removal tool you can find FAST!

First off, someone would have to be a moron to distribute it this way. Instant backlash when its discovered.
Second, only an amatuer would use that method.
Third, any half clueless moron could monitor thier network traffic to see if there is any unusual outgoing traffic (instant bust).
So please, spend a few minutes and see if there is any validity to your insults before sharing them.
Thanks again.

@Duk -- do you get paid to be a horses ass or does it come naturally?
To OP: I have been looking for something like this. It looks awesome and I can't wait to try it out. Thank you for your time and effort.

Yeah! Stop spending hours upon hours coding software that may be usefull for the players of Eve.
Jessica Christ!? Virus check the software and use a firewall that prevents outgoing traffic (like the one in XP or Zonealarm) and you're pretty safe. And if you're really really paranoid install and try the program on a friends computer.

A tip for coders would be to hook up and get testimonites (or whatever you call it) from respected players, imo that would boost your trust a lot.

The XP one doesnt even seem to affect outgoing traffic. You will be surprised if you use it and change to another commercial one later. Virus scanners and such have a really hard time finding anything they dont know while not giving heaps of false alarms so people usually disable heuristics. |

@ DukDodgerz: Straight off of Jentai's website....
Quote: As is always wise, make sure to scan the file with an up to date virus protection. Safest option is to use a secondary computer that can be wiped and reloaded as needed. (not that there is anything wrong with my code, but I am the paranoid type).
<sigh> Quit yer cryin'.. if you feel it's risky, don't install it.

Let's be honest here Chribba - it's lot easier to do malicious scripts on a website than it is to get people to actively run a malicious program but no-one's howling about THAT.
The second poster's whine is, of course, pure scaremongering.

Ecellent idea. The only problem is most people will download and use the app but not offer up a single word of comment.
So far there has been over 200 downloads, yet not a single comment. I know the app is an excellent trade finder since I use it religously.
But I would be very happy to recieve some feedback with game names that people wouldn't mind if I posted on the website.

Not so sure about that. I get notifications from windows firewall when a program attempts to make outside contact. I did with EVE and BFII, so I assume it will pop up a notification each time. It was an "answer once" box asking if I wanted to unblock the ports being used. I would imagine it would still be feasible to avoid the popup by using a common port along the lines of ftp, ping, trace etc..
Currently my app doesn't use any network calls. I may alter that in the future though to add a cluster ability so groups can link together for export sharing and trade updating (if the users like the idea).

XP firewall is the devil i tell you
Use a real firewall as i wouldn't trust my PC's security up to microsoft products alone.

Sadly the firewall faq is quite a bit outdated but you can find that discussed in the firewall newsgroup.
Or if you understand german - here is a recent article pointing to a dev blog about the new vista firewall which will finally be a "full" firewall also filtering outgoing traffic and not only inbound: http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/68861
On a funny sidenote - check the default configuration of outbound traffic filtering in the CGs dev blog ;)
I have done network sniffing with ethereal and tried setups with the winxp firewall, gdata firewall and a hardware firewall. The winxp firewall happily lets programs send data wherever they want. Some people speculate it was done because of the multitude of "calling home" functions in microsoft products and to avoid them beeing blocked ;)

Wonder if there is a set of IPs that is always allowed? Such as ones owned by MS.
On another note, over 500 downloads so far.
My program must really be horrid, not a single "this is good" (from a user) or donation yet.
Either that, or maybe no one can think past thier own gratification? Nah, computer users aren't so impolite :)

In the market window, when looking at the market details, you will see the export button at the bottm middle. You have to have an item selected to display for the button to initially show

It sounds like you didnt complete the install. I would bet your missing the .mdb file.
Redo the install for ETA.

A goggle search turns up this: http://www.mvps.org/access/bugs/bugs0019.htm
Perhaps I need some dependant dlls?

The "file not found" error is usually the missing "Exports" directory.
The install automates the dependncies so that shouldn't be an issue (otherwise a lot of others would have it).
