I'm thinking of making a trade type character, but on one hand I heard Charisma deals with that sort of thing, but on the other I heard it really wasn't as *big* a deal as it sounds, and a Charisma about equal to the rest of a characters stats will do just fine... what is your take on it?
Also, if *you* were going to make a trader, what stats would you bestow upon this character?

Currently, I still maintain that Charisma is the most worthless attribute, but in the case of someone who plans on sticking to trade and industry....well I guess I still think Charisma is the most worthless. It it were me, I'd put my focus on Intelligence above all else, followed by perception.
Now simply because Charisma is still, after over two-and-a-half years, the least useful attribute doesn't mean it will stay that way. They keep adding more and more skills and more and more of them require Charisma.
Right now, I'd prioritize attributes for that profession like this: Intelligence > Perception > Memory > Willpower > Charisma
But if you want to take a little gamble that Charisma will gain more importance: Intelligence > Perception > Charisma > Memory > Willpower --- --- 271 skills trained. |

As Tripoli is saying Charisma is currently not very important. Yet over the past 2 years it has been getting more and more important at every patch and expansion.
Personaly I have always been of the opinion that having all attributes as equal as posible will prevent you from having to look back in the future and come to the conclusion you made a silly mistake.
With all skills average you will always be an average SP gainer but you will be that in all fields which means switching professions is an option. Having specialized in one set of attributes could lead to switching proffesions being very costly when it comes to SP gaining.
Just my two ISK... ------------------------------------------- Should you disagree with me, well I guess that is because I disagree with you. If you have a problem with that please feel free not to tell me. |

Hrm. Interesting. So Int and Per are the most important when it comes to trading (moving/selling) skills? I think I might take a chance and have a good charisma, it would work from an RP standpoint as well, but I definetely want to try to keep things fairly even. My main character foobarred his stats, but I don't want to start over, going to grin and bear it (warrior type).

Charisma is used to train Corporation Management, Leadership, Social and Trade skills. Now count the number of skills in those categories and compare it to the number of skills in say Spaceship Command or Gunnery.
Now you can see how unimportant charisma is.
I would give my trader high perception, intelligence, willpower and memory.

I would say you should train Intelligence > Memory > Charisma > Wisdom > Perception myself as the flying and fighting skills are not so important with a trader. IMO Charisma is just as important as the other traits despite the fact there are less skills that benefit from it.
