Dear sirs, and so on...
I've been working on an integrated skill training time calculator for a while. it was spot on with all skills (on 10 different characters that i've compared it with). Then something changed. Now, everyone who tried the standard forumla minutes to train = n/((ability in primary attribute + ability in secondary attribute/2) * (1 + 0.02 * learning skill level)) knows that it dosnt work.
So, id like to know how the skill training is integrated, how the skillgroups interact and so on :)
Thanks for now ----------------------------

That is still the formula and it still works perfectly. HOWEVER, what isn't working correct, are your attributes displaying correctly in game. If you remembered what your starting stats were when you created your character, then add in your stats booster learning skills, that is your correct number for your attributes.
Originally I thought my spreadsheet was off as well, but then I noticed my training times were correct, just the numbers for my attributes were changed in game on me.

not intending to get flamed here - but what my calculator spews out from the above calc is diff from what the ingame timer says when i press train.
Please does any body else get different figures?
the reason i ask is - if it is a bug to me specificaly (or a few of us) how can i prove this?

Angry Sheep, are you A) using your stats as displayed in game or B) did you keep track of what your starting stats were when you made the character (aka without any learning skills boosting your attributes).
if A) the current displayed stats are incorrect
if B) then make sure you add your original stats with your lvls in the appropiate stat booster skill.
Now a quick update on something. Unless I changed my Willpower starting stat by mistake, Amarr Frigate was buggy for me going from lvl 2-3. That was the only time it was wrong, I wrote it off on the fact that just a few hours earlier the DB belched majorly. I punched in my current point total and was coming up with a time that was nearly 1/2 than that showin on my game screen. All of my other skills were matching my times (tried out gallente frig first off) and they all matched.
So in conclusion, maybe you just got hit by a nasty DB burp and it made yer skill time go buggy.

Hi
Are you guys saying that the displayed character attributes are incorrect - I have tried formula and it gives consistently inaccurate results for all my skills I am training

The problem is that the skills displayed in game are truncated. With the learning skill and other stat modifications the number displayed is not exact. This causes the discrepancy that you are seeing. ------------------------- ~Merlock Darcus |

CCP really should add two decimal places to the attributes listed in-game. This would solve every one of these people's problems. ---

Yes, the game displays your stats rounded. When it figures training time it doesn't round. To get around this you need to apply the "Learning" skill mods against the original stat + specialization skills for that stat.
Example: 10 base perception +5 for spatial awareness 5 +4 for clarity 4 = 19 perception Add learning 5 +10% = 1.9 you display 20 perception, but actually have 20.9 and that's what is calculated for skill training times.
You need to plug this number (20.9) into spreadsheet for it to be accurate.
That's why I have a 20 base perception (displayed) after all learning, and get 22 displayed when I plug in a +1 implant. Confused yet? LOL. I'm not really getting +2 from a +1 implant.
Implants boost your base, which in turn is affected by the 10% added by learning. I believe the learning skill +10% is applied last after all mods. It's the only way a +1 implant would give me +2 as displayed.
Hope this helps. You do not lose the rounded numbers, they are just not precisely displayed in your character sheet.
I am not exactly sure how the rounding works, but I'd have to assume they get rounded down for display, else, I'd have 21 being displayed without an implant.
This is why I have to chuckle when people sometimes say that learning 5 doesn't buy you anything if it won't boost any of your skills up a whole number. It does boost your skills, you just may not see it in your stats.
***Disclaimer: These are my observations, but I could be wrong.

^^^ Dead on. Only thing you should do is substitute every instance of "round" with "truncate." ---
