Well heres the scoop last night I just hit 3m skill points and I am not looking to shabby with the gunnery skills and have the ability to armor tank fairly well (hull upgrades 4, mechanic 4, repair systems 4) I am caldari but fly gallente (not really sure why) and I am just not finding a ship I enjoy or feels really dominates. I understand that whole balencing issue however would I be more satisfied flying amarr ships with lasers? or stick with gallente with blasters? Or should I go back to Caldari and work up my shield tank and missile skills? The brutix is too slow even with a mwd it takes forever to get up to a decent speed which burns my cap down to nothing. Pretty much I want to PVP and I am currently with a large corp that will support that activity in 0.0. Is my problem that im not using a battleship?? Hell I don't know. However I feel I should try and answer this question now before I have 10m sp and am equally as disapointed. Help me out give me something to work with here I find myself not playing becuase I dont really know what to do (I always thought people that did that were gimps myself, now its me *cry) oh well thanks in advance for any input.

Go grab yourself a Vexor. Very nice all round ship. Whatever you do, don't be grabbing a battleship with only 3mil SP. I personally have 3 mil SP in gunnery alone, and I sure as hell don't feel qualified to fly a battleship at anything near peak performance. ___

Thorax!!!!! blasters, mwd and plate or rails and plate :) *what do i know i never passed gallente frigate lvl2 :)
As a general idea, all races have good ships, thorax is one of them (not the single on from gallente tho) so if u like it's looks continue this way ... A wise man never plays TAG with a RINO |

Gallente have some good cruisers. A thorax is always fun. I'd personally go for assualt frigates though. Gallente have some of the best. Between the Enyo and Ishkur you really can't go wrong. They both make great PvP ships. Training up for AF's also leads to HAC's, and that's a good route to go. I was in an assault frig shortly after reaching my 3mil SP mark. |

Hmm... Set objectives.. You like flying a Brutix with blasters? But MWD use too much cap? Use a thorax, it has a bonus for it. It's cheaper. And you'll learn to fly a blaster boat more effectivly doing that.
You think you'll like flying amarr with lasers? You won't dominating more.
If you're low SP and are participating in fight in 0.0 with a 'large' corp. Well, i wouldn't say 'oh go in a battleship!' I'd concentrate my training on something small, and more specialised..
You like interceptors? You'll train for tech2 small turrets, Learn to tackle, Train to be cap efficient, get better navigation skills. It's useful in 0.0 to have tacklers.
IF you want to go for Assault frigates or Heavy assault cruisers, it's still good since before flying them, you'll need the basic skills required to even begin with.
IF you don't know what Race to specialise in.. Maybe you need to figure what ship you like flying most in the ship you can currently fly.. If it's not working for you, then i'm afraid you'll need to either go back to Caldari ships. IF you don't like caldari, then amarr.

With 3 mil skill points you are going to find the Brutix a Donkey to fly. It is a very skill hungry ship. Low Speed, Poor agility along with fitting issues will not make for an enjoyable experience all round.
You may enjoy your self more if you train Frigate to V and jump in a Assault Frigate you will have great killing power and they are more fun to fly. "The object of war is not to die for your corp, but to make the other b@##@#d die for his" |

Gallente are awesome. Im gallente specced aswell and love most of their ships. Of course there is some crap ones too but on the whole we pretty good
However, stay away from Gall BS til you have really good skills. They are awesome to fly, mega as a blaster boat and domi as a drone/nos machine, but they are far more skill hungry than other races (bar minmatar)
As your just starting out (so to speak) grab a vexor and a thorax. They are both awesome cruisers and do their job extremely well. If you skill up for these it will lead you into flying a brutix and then onto a mega and domi. The thorax is great fun (cheap and powerful) and the vexor is quite flexible in load out
If you want to go down the tech2 route which most people do, then gallente are also very good. We have the taranis (capable ceptor), enyo and ishkur (decent pair of AFs), ishtar and deimos (decent pair of HACs) and our tech2 BC are pretty sweet too. Our recon cruisers are a bit crap and the ares positively sucks, but on the whole gallente are pretty sweet

Gallente have some good ships, I can fly the thorax and its a great little ship Its not so much finding a ship that is fun though its more down to what you make of a ship which makes it "fun" build your skills up and get a really good setup on say a thorax then I bet your enjoy it.
I have a feeling the reason your not enjoying the ship you've flown so far is because you can't use them as well yet, stick with one ship play with the setup and I'll bet your love it!

There is some truth to this. I hated my Ferrox when I first started using it. I stuck with it and trined my skills for it. Now I love this ship. When we are mission running I'm the tank for the BS pilots. I am not sure of their exact setups but I consistantly out-tank them. AND I can bring enough weaponry along with me to handle the cruisers and frigs. Its not exactly the role I planned for myself, but there is no fear left in any lvl 4 mission.
The Destruction of your ship is usually preceeded by the thought,"I think I will try somthing a little different this time...." |
